Capitol attack"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=5bc7b249-13ba-4a24-94a6-08aa5607a6e8&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1141\" alt=\"Trump supporters gather outside the Capitol, Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, in Washington.\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">Trump supporters gather outside the Capitol, Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, in Washington.<\/span><span class=\"credit\">The Associated Press<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Multiple Colorado residents, including a two-time Olympic champion and a geophysicist, have been arrested and charged with crimes in connection to the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/02\/09\/965472049\/the-capitol-siege-the-arrested-and-their-stories\" id=\"link-13222648fc1e02d8b2d519e06d75c5a3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NPR reports<\/a> that over 575 people have been charged in connection to the attack, which the FBI views as domestic terrorism. The attack occurred during a Joint Session of the U.S. Congress, which was in the process of confirming the results from the 2020 presidential election. It came shortly after a nearby \u201cStop the Steal\u201d rally held by then-President Donald Trump, and amid a swirl of election misinformation and fiery rhetoric from Trump\u2019s supporters, including Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert, who tweeted on the morning of Jan. 6 that \u201cToday is 1776.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Justice says that approximately 140 police officers were assaulted on Jan. 6 at the Capitol, including approximately 80 U.S. Capitol police officers and about 60 officers from the Metropolitan Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>The FBI has received over 200,000 digital media tips from citizens around the country regarding the events of Jan. 6, according to the Department of Justice. As of early July, the FBI was still looking for help from the public in identifying over 300 additional suspects.<\/p>\n<p>At least 78 people who have been charged in connection with the Jan. 6 attack have a military or law enforcement history, according to an NPR analysis. Fifty-five individuals who have been charged \u201cinvoked Trump to explain their actions.\u201d NPR reports that while there are some exceptions, the people charged so far are predominantly white males.<\/p>\n<p>The following are Coloradans who have been charged so far:<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Hunter Palm<\/div>\n<p><strong>Date and location of arrest<\/strong>: May 12, in Denver<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/case-multi-defendant\/file\/1413576\/download\" id=\"link-78ca2b653df66bdd7fb0011ed8c9f248\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charges<\/a>: (1) obstruction of an official proceeding; (2) entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds; (3) disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; (4) entering and remaining in certain rooms in the Capitol Building; (5) disorderly conduct in a Capitol Building; (6) parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol Building.<\/p>\n<p>Palm was identified by a family member who wrote a letter to the FBI on Jan. 8, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/case-multi-defendant\/file\/1394516\/download\" id=\"link-2e841199f532bcdadb5b3881a41bb633\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">affidavit<\/a>. The family member, who was identified as Witness 1 in court documents, wrote that Palm called Witness 1 and reported to the family member that Palm had entered the U.S. Capitol. Court documents state that Palm sat down at the head of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi\u2019s conference table and put his feet on the table. Palm can be heard saying \u201cI think I like my new dining room. I pay for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=dae64f1d-7482-5aaf-8b4f-6b321e5a6cff&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"300\" height=\"213\" alt=\"A photo allegedly of Williams, according to an affidavit. (Screenshot, via Colorado Newsline)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Timothy Wayne Williams<\/div>\n<p><strong>Date and location of arrest<\/strong>: June 4, in Denver<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/defendants\/williams-timothy-wayne\" id=\"link-d3973c15d43c669223c537ad4f56f3b2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charges<\/a>: (1) knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; (2) disorderly or disruptive conduct, at any place in the Grounds or in any of the Capitol Buildings; (3) parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol Building.<\/p>\n<p>Williams is from Trinidad, according to court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/case-multi-defendant\/file\/1401816\/download\" id=\"link-95d4d7be1998185b5bbe357c42cfa910\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documents<\/a>. Williams told FBI agents that he previously worked for GrowGeneration, a hydroponics equipment supplier in Trinidad, but that he lost his job because he would not take a COVID-19 test. Williams claimed he was not involved in any acts of property damage or violence, and that he did not take \u201cany souvenirs or anything from the Capitol,\u201d according to court documents.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=b484a8eb-116b-5f20-86d2-99456849ed78&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"300\" height=\"290\" alt=\"A picture allegedly of Patrick Montgomery\u2019s Facebook page, according to an affidavit (Screenshot, via Colorado Newsline)\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">A picture allegedly of Patrick Montgomery\u2019s Facebook page, according to an affidavit (Screenshot, via Colorado Newsline)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Patrick Montgomery<\/div>\n<p><strong>Date and location of arrest<\/strong>: Jan. 17, in Littleton<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/case-multi-defendant\/file\/1364766\/download\" id=\"link-d13fdd5bd4fca81e95075c9098374626\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charges<\/a>: (1) entering and remaining in a restricted building; (2) disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building; (3) entering and remaining in the gallery of either House of Congress; (4) violent entry and disorderly conduct at the grounds and in a Capitol Building; (5) parading, demonstrating, and picketing in a Capitol Building.<\/p>\n<p>Several people submitted tips to the FBI regarding posts and photos on Facebook that appeared to be Montgomery, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/page\/file\/1357706\/download\" id=\"link-843ce71d982c7a74c8c83c271ffe6930\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">affidavit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Montgomery has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/capitol-breach-cases?combine=Patrick+Montgomery+\" id=\"link-44dc7e9c7e884ed6e71909449ad4594f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Justice Department<\/a>, Montgomery has been released on a personal recognizance bond, which does not require the defendant to pay money in exchange for being released prior to trial.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image naviga-align-left alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=deb88f28-9712-5b04-b892-053004de4043&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"267\" height=\"300\" alt=\"Two firearms that Meredith was in possession of at the time of his arrest, according to court documents. (Screenshot, via Colorado Newsline)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Cleveland Grover Meredith Jr.<\/div>\n<p><strong>Date and location of arrest<\/strong>: Jan. 8, in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/capitol-breach-cases?combine=Cleveland+Grover+Meredith+Jr.\" id=\"link-cbbe4c84c8791cd2d20e130cd260ff7e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charges<\/a>: (1) interstate communication of threats; (2) possession of unregistered firearms; (3) possession of unregistered ammunition; (4) possession of large capacity ammunition.<\/p>\n<p>According to an affidavit, the FBI received tips on Jan. 7 that Meredith had sent the following text: \u201cThinking about heading over to Pelosi C***\u2019s speech and putting a bullet in her noggin on Live TV (purple devil emoji).\u201d FBI agents searched Meredith\u2019s trailer, where Meredith stated he had put two firearms, and found a \u201cGlock 19, nine millimeter pistol, a Tavor X95 assault rifle and approximately hundreds of rounds of ammunition,\u201d according to court documents. Meredith told FBI agents that he was originally planning to arrive in Washington, D.C., on Jan 5, but did not arrive until Jan 6., and it was too late to attend the rally, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/page\/file\/1353311\/download\" id=\"link-816a928380620c5ebc2ce34757710a34\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">affidavit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In court <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/20449695\/mayor-of-washington-threatened-doc-highlighted-2.pdf\" id=\"link-ab751dcd994af1396ae7d3f0abf30371\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documents<\/a>, federal prosecutors described Meredith as a \u201cclearly disturbed, deranged, and dangerous individual that fantasizes about committing horrific acts of violence and takes countless steps to carry them out by driving across several states with a trailer stocked with thousands of rounds of ammunition and multiple firearms \u2013 including an assault style rifle \u2013 should not remain in the community.\u201d He concluded the memorandum with a request that the court order Meredith to be detained without bond pending the resolution of the case.<\/p>\n<p>Meredith is a Colorado resident, according to court <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/20449695\/mayor-of-washington-threatened-doc-highlighted-2.pdf\" id=\"link-ae516a394b3c03417507279eb78fe5d8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documents<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/georgia-man-among-those-facing-federal-charges-from-capitol-riot\/SD3JK6B2FBGVFLFJ273RNB5IOE\/\" id=\"link-1004e2b69eb43ee509b57c703662adc3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Atlanta Journal-Constitution<\/a> reported that Meredith lived in Hiawassee, Georgia, and was involved in funding a controversial billboard that supported QAnon in 2018. QAnon is a term for internet conspiracy theories that falsely allege that the world is run by \u201ca cabal of Satan-worshiping pedophiles,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/article\/what-is-qanon.html\" id=\"link-6c67c85edc117314a11c9a8a57b55794\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em id=\"emphasis-c9bddefc2cc10037fbfac3cb1d174a38\">The New York Times<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meredith is detained until his trial.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=e7ac67f0-8d05-5424-b106-fd3bd04627c7&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"300\" height=\"158\" alt=\"A photo of a man who appears to be Keller, according to an affidavit. (Screenshot, Colorado Newsline)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Klete Keller<\/div>\n<p><strong>Date and location of arrest<\/strong>: Jan. 14, in Denver<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/case-multi-defendant\/file\/1371636\/download\" id=\"link-bd4f47b8c4bd04b2eb50b034755efccc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charges<\/a>: (1) civil disorder; (2) obstruction of an official proceeding; (3) entering and remaining in a restricted building or groups; (4) disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; (5) disorderly conduct in a Capitol building; (6) impeding passage through the Capitol grounds or building; (7) parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.<\/p>\n<p>Keller is a two-time Olympic champion in swimming, and a member of the 2000, 2004, and 2008 U.S. Olympic teams, according to the Team USA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamusa.org\/Athletes\/KE\/Klete-Keller.aspx\" id=\"link-5967a5d99a5cdbe73ac17a00c226e105\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>. Keller is believed to have been wearing a Team USA Nike jacket with an Olympic patch on it, according to an affidavit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/klete-kellers-coach-fearful-olympians-future-capitol-attack\/story?id=75642374\" id=\"link-f4f67084af2fa1189cb1b8a04541852b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ABC News<\/a> reported that Keller\u2019s former swim coach, Mark Schubert, \u201csaid he wishes he had been \u2018more proactive\u2019 in talking to Keller \u2018about his life after swimming.\u2019\u201d Schubert said he was shocked when he learned that Keller was at the Capitol on Jan. 6. \u201cMy first thought was knowing that he has struggled trying to get a profession, trying to be a successful family man. All of those things came to mind and just made me feel very sad,\u201d Schubert told ABC News.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/01\/12\/sports\/olympics\/klete-keller-capitol-trump.html\" id=\"link-aed3b87e8fd22e5d12f29abab963a56b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em id=\"emphasis-a7fef64186747b19c38fc595dddfc816\">The New York Times<\/em><\/a> reported that Keller worked as a broker associate for Hoff &amp; Leigh, a Colorado real estate firm. In January, the firm announced that Keller had resigned.<\/p>\n<p>Keller has pleaded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/defendants\/keller-klete-derik\" id=\"link-bf19d34141349b0e88cc404a3433738d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not guilty<\/a> to all charges and is currently on personal recognizance.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Logan Grover<\/div>\n<p><strong>Date and location of arrest<\/strong>: April 28, in Erie<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/case-multi-defendant\/file\/1409431\/download\" id=\"link-d9edbc8898ac6f315616c0321154c5b3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charges<\/a>: (1) entering and remaining in a restricted building; (2) disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building; (3) violent entry and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building; (4) parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.<\/p>\n<p>Grover pleaded not guilty to the charges and remains on personal recognizance, according to the Capitol breach investigation resource <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/defendants\/grover-logan\" id=\"link-dad3538091578ae1fabc739b112f080f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Grover was identified when the FBI received a tip that Grover posted on Facebook that he flew to Washington, D.C., and planned to participate in the protest at the Capitol, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/case-multi-defendant\/file\/1390411\/download\" id=\"link-9818b1a784ce1d73639b04fcd1dc4a82\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">affidavit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The affidavit states that Grover is a resident of Erie.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image naviga-align-left alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=82787f2b-d433-5ee6-9436-cafdd8d763e0&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"215\" height=\"300\" alt=\"A picture allegedly of Gieswein, according to an affidavit. (Screenshot, via Colorado Newsline)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Robert Gieswein<\/div>\n<p><strong>Date and location of arrest<\/strong>: Jan. 18, in Divide.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charges<\/strong>: (1) obstruction of an official proceeding; (2\u20134) three counts of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers using a dangerous weapon; (5) destruction of government property; (6) entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/defendants\/gieswein-robert\" id=\"link-c782e30b553170e4aaeee918a93cda08\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gieswein <\/a> is a resident of Woodland Park and appears to be affiliated with the Three Percenters, a radical militia group, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/page\/file\/1360831\/download\" id=\"link-ab0878c5a8266b70e38a67e09b09dffa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">affidavit<\/a>. At least 11 people charged in connection to the Jan. 6 attack have alleged associations to the Three Percenters, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/02\/09\/965472049\/the-capitol-siege-the-arrested-and-their-stories\" id=\"link-fdbe46725e9402c8143300a692d1458e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to NPR<\/a>. The affidavit<a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/page\/file\/1360831\/download\" id=\"link-11b18cd1be07c378b29128bcde8aa9df\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <\/a> also alleges that Gieswein is the leader of the Woodland Wild Dogs, a private paramilitary organization training group.<\/p>\n<p>Gieswein had an aerosol irritant spray and a baseball bat on his person, according to his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/page\/file\/1361206\/download\" id=\"link-f5613dc756ff24310225506b18c760fa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indictment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image naviga-align-left alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=ee9d8034-df1a-5b7d-83f8-d07f97072a29&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"227\" height=\"300\" alt=\"A photo allegedly of Glenn Wes Lee Croy and Terry Lynn Lindsey inside the U.S. Capitol Building that an individual submitted to the FBI, according to an affidavit. (Screenshot, via Colorado Newsline)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Glenn Wes Lee Croy<\/div>\n<p><strong>Date and location of arrest<\/strong>: Feb. 17, in Colorado Springs<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charges<\/strong>: (1) entering and remaining in a restricted building; (2) disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building; (3) violent entry and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building; (4) parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building<\/p>\n<p>Croy was identified when an individual submitted a tip to the FBI, stating that Croy told the individual that he was at the Capitol riot and sent a picture of himself and another person, who was later identified as Terry Lynn Lindsey, inside the U.S. Capitol Building, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/case-multi-defendant\/file\/1371331\/download\" id=\"link-f2e08da574635a5e261e68eeeb500798\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">affidavit<\/a>. The affidavit also states that Croy and Lindsey, who appears to be from Ohio, were friends on Facebook prior to the apparent deletion of Croy\u2019s Facebook profile.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/defendants\/lindsey-terry-lynn\" id=\"link-e1f06d496a1a73865c5a561b337fcdec\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Terry Lynn Lindsey<\/a> was arrested on Feb. 17 in Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>Croy has pleaded not guilty to all charges, according to the Capitol breach investigation resource <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/capitol-breach-cases?combine=croy\" id=\"link-522d7542f6b31790c5ab2cf48c30dc0d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">page<\/a>. A status conference and potential plea hearing is scheduled for Aug. 19. Croy has been released on personal recognizance.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=46de8108-ed6d-5426-8864-7e30b0581ded&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"300\" height=\"167\" alt=\"A photo allegedly of Clark from a police body camera. (Screenshot, via Colorado Newsline)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Jacob Travis Clark<\/div>\n<p><strong>Date and location of arrest<\/strong>: April 21, in Colorado Springs<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/defendants\/clark-jacob-travis\" id=\"link-63aadd832b25da907dfad2430fa1cd1e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charges<\/a>: (1) knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; (2) disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; (3) engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds; (4) violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds; (5) obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder; (6) obstruction of justice\/congress<\/p>\n<p>When Capitol police officers told Clark, of Trinidad, and other people inside the Capitol building that they were just doing their jobs, Clark allegedly responded \u201cSo were the Nazis!\u201d according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/case-multi-defendant\/file\/1391111\/download\" id=\"link-b354d23b0c45b0f8e37f5bcf4138a268\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">affidavit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 7.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Jeffrey Sabol<\/div>\n<p><strong>Date and location of arrest<\/strong>: Jan. 27, in New York<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/case-multi-defendant\/file\/1413436\/download\" id=\"link-183593578247abd9aefcacadf2f051c0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charges<\/a>: (1) assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers using a dangerous weapon; (2) assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers; (3) civil disorder; (4) entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon; (5) disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon; (6) engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds; (7) act of physical violence in the Capitol grounds or buildings.<\/p>\n<p>Sabol was taken into custody on Jan. 27 by officers from the Clarkstown Police Department in Rockland County, New York, who responded to a vehicle that was driving erratically and encountered Sabol, who was covered in blood and had apparently attempted suicide, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/page\/file\/1360836\/download\" id=\"link-3a3883933f78ddfc84616f31f1e6b68f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">affidavit<\/a>. Sabol allegedly told the officers, \u201cI was fighting tyranny in the DC Capitol,\u201d and \u201cI am wanted by the FBI.\u201d The officers who searched the vehicle found an airline ticket, Sabol\u2019s passport, and his social security card, among other items, according to court documents.<\/p>\n<p>When FBI agents spoke to Sabol and showed him a photo of an officer lying face down on the ground with Sabol over him, Sabol \u201cacknowledged that he is the individual in the picture.
