County Administrator Shak Powers, second from left, gave insight into the economic survey currently being circulated.<\/span><span class=\"credit\">du1-i-syn<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Montezuma County Economic Development Team asks for resident insight<\/p>\n\n<p>The Montezuma County Economic Development Team launched a survey Aug. 4 that aims to measure the spending habits of Montezuma County residents.<\/p>\n<p>The survey can be found by accessing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/CZCLKVL\" id=\"link-85dcf7bbad9621a7c5b7f8abb8547f04\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this link<\/a>. It\u2019s also available on Montezuma County\u2019s Facebook page and on the county\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>Composed of six questions, the survey will help the team to develop a better understanding of commerce in the region.<\/p>\n<p>This includes what commodities people buy and where they buy them \u2014 in the area, outside the county or online.<\/p>\n<p>The team is interested in what goods, services or industries residents feel might be missing locally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would hope to recruit those industries to expand or relocate to Montezuma County,\u201d said County Administrator Shak Powers.<\/p>\n<p>As of Monday morning, the survey had generated more than 300 responses, said Powers.<\/p>\n<p>The economic development team set a target response rate of 1,000 survey completions.<\/p>\n<p>Officials don\u2019t have specific plans for releasing the data to the public, but Powers said he didn\u2019t see a reason not to share it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an opportunity for county residents to share their thoughts and opinions and help determine the future of commerce in Montezuma County,\u201d said Vicki Shaffer, public information officer for Montezuma County in an email.<\/p>\n<p>Rachel Medina, mayor pro tem, drafted the survey questions, and then they were bounced around the economic development team, said Powers.<\/p>\n<p>The survey closes Aug. 16.<\/p>\n<p>The questions are as follows:<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-x-im-unordered-list\">\u201cDo you shop locally or are there products and services you specifically shop elsewhere for?\u201cWhat products do you typically purchase outside of Montezuma County or purchase online?\u201cWhat services do you typically purchase outside of Montezuma County or purchase online?\u201cWhere do you purchase these products and services? \u201cWhat product, service, or industry do you feel that our community is missing?\u201cWhy do you shop outside Montezuma County or online?
