The Mancos Love Fundraiser is taking place again tonight at Mancos Brewing Co. from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.<\/p>\n

There is a $20 entrance fee, and proceeds go directly to Mancos Valley Resources, a community-based charitable organization serving Montezuma County for over 25 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe haven\u2019t had a lot of places to go dance since last year and everything\u2019s been shut down,\u201d said Kim Cox, representative of Mancos Valley Resources. \u201cSo this is just a really great outdoor event with great food and great beer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Saturday, Pete Giuliani Band will perform.<\/p>\n

Attendees can look forward to covers as well as acoustic and electric originals.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Flashback performed throwbacks from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.<\/p>\n

Close to a hundred people attended Friday night\u2019s benefit, said Cox.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur whole mission is just to support Mancos and all of its residents,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The organization aims to enhance not only the fun aspects of living in Southwest Colorado, but to also to help those in need, she said.<\/p>\n

This is achieved through initiatives like Mancos Food Share<\/a>, which in 2013 brought USDA Commodities to the town, saving locals experiencing food insecurity a trip to Cortez, according to the Mancos Valley Resoures website.<\/p>\n

The organization also sponsors a weekly food pantry that is open for all community members, as well as other food education and donation programs.<\/p>\n

Mancos Valley Resources is currently managing 15 projects, Cox said.<\/p>\n

It helped to launch the Mancos Community Health Center, Cortez Recreation Center and Leadership Montezuma, according to its website.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re just kind of trying to reach everybody and touch a little bit of everybody and Mancos,\u201d Cox said.<\/p>\n

This is a toned-down version of the annual Summer Brew Fest, which usually takes place in Cottonwood \u2014 but didn\u2019t this year or last, she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully next year we\u2019ll be back at Cottonwood,\u201c she said.<\/p>\n

The organization will be hosting an online auction Sept. 20-27 featuring outdoor gear.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
