Now, new pretrial services staff members at the Administrative Office of the Courts will watch the alert system nights, weekends and holidays.<\/p>\n<p>If staff members receive a \u201chigh alert,\u201d they will call the defendant and determine if there was a violation of pretrial release. Staff members can also order a bench warrant for the defendant\u2019s arrest and check on the defendant\u2019s victim.<\/p>\n<p>GPS monitoring devices set off an alert if a defendant has left house arrest, violated curfew, travels to an off-limits area or tampered with the device.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FE \u2013 Defendants awaiting trial in Bernalillo County who wear GPS devices will be monitored more closely from now on.
