Now, she has a brick-and-mortar thrift store at 317 E. Main St. in Cortez filled with items she\u2019s collected over the years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a little scary, but it needed to be done to sustain the growth and help the animals,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The store opened its doors Saturday, with an official grand opening to come.<\/p>\n<p>Obe\u2019s Angels provides all the dog food, crates and other items rescued dogs need, Rosenbaugh said. She has built a network of local fosters that house the dogs short-term before they find forever homes. She rescues them locally, as well as from San Antonio, Texas, where she rescues pets scheduled to be euthanized.<\/p>\n<p>The rescue\u2019s name honors a black lab of Rosenbaugh\u2019s who has since passed \u2013 Obe. She has pit bulls of her own, and is particularly passionate about saving dogs of that breed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have a goal and a passion and I\u2019m going to make it happen no matter what,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Her job went remote due to the pandemic, and that enabled her to take her non-profit to the next level.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s hoping to grow her network of fosters, as well as work with Southwest Open School to give items to students in exchange for volunteer time.<\/p>\n<p>She also launched a furniture refurbishing effort \u2014 the Painting for Pups Project \u2014 through which she will spotlight pieces painted and restored by herself and volunteers for sale in the store.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m trying any avenue I can to get as much as I can for these animals,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The store is open Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=70c2d8d6-50e3-5847-a92a-f2de4e8c5432&#038;function=cover&#038;type=preview&#038;source=false&#038;width=2000\" alt=\"Painted items from Jennifer Langley, who will volunteer at the location on Fridays, line shelves in the store.\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">Painted items from Jennifer Langley, who will volunteer at the location on Fridays, line shelves in the store.<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Kala Parkinson<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pixie and Pearl \u2014 two playful pups up for adoption.
