The Pi\u00f1on Project\u2019s annual Pumpkin Fest is Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Montezuma Park in Cortez.<\/p>\n

The family Halloween event includes a 5K run, costume contest, trick-or-treating parade, games, dancing and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a classic carnival, and is quite popular with families,\u201d said organizer Ian Elder-Cheyne, program manager for the Pi\u00f1on Project.<\/p>\n

The 5K Zombie runs begins at 9 a.m. and will be a Cake Walk at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n

Costume contest judging from 11-11:30 a.m. Registration for the contest begins at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n

The Trick or Treat parade \u2014 chaperoned by adults \u2014 will go from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants will walk down Market and Main streets to receive treats from area businesses.<\/p>\n

The carnival goes from noon to 2:30 p.m. at the park. Tickets for various events are .25 cents each.<\/p>\n

Events include, spiderweb corn hole, pumpkin bowling, a spooky obstacle course, crafts and a photo booth with a Halloween backdrop.<\/p>\n

At the carnival there will be a dance, and DJ Eric Shinn will spin the tunes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIts fun to get all the kids dancing in their costumes. Zombies make great dancers,\u201d Elder-Cheyne said.<\/p>\n

Pi\u00f1on Project Director Kellie Willis said everyone is welcome to celebrate Halloween at the Pumpkin Fest.<\/p>\n

Organizers embrace the fun-filled fright of the Halloween holiday, and warn carnival participants to be wary of \u201cghoulish monsters who may be hiding around any corner!\u201d<\/p>\n
