Each river basin has its own roundtable made up of members of that community.<\/p>\n<p>The public comments help shape the content of these plans, which inform how water is managed at a local level.<\/p>\n<p>To review the plan and submit comments visit <a href=\"https:\/\/engagecwcb.org\/\" id=\"link-5ec11da495713ab9ea8d8e601ae0ff3b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">engagecwcb.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no one better suited to inform local planning than our local citizens, who live, work and recreate in the basins, and understand the critical role that water and healthy rivers play in our economy, environment and everyday lives,\u201d the Water Information Program said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>Basin implementation plans are developed and reviewed by roundtable board members to help frame regional issues as part of the overall creation of <a href=\"https:\/\/cwcb.colorado.gov\/read-plan\" id=\"link-806ffa8a5a659dfbc2250f0bd00849cd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colorado\u2019s statewide water plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While the Colorado Water Plan seeks to address statewide water concerns, specific basin plans are more focused on local needs, plans, projects and goals.<\/p>\n<p>The basin implementation plans are developed by roundtable members for that region with support from the community. (Jim Mimiaga\/The Journal file)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">du1-i-syn<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Basin roundtables and the Colorado Water Conservation Board offer grant funding for water projects in the state\u2019s nine river basins.<\/p>\n<p>The roundtables were developed by the Colorado Water Conservation Board in 2005 to \u201cfacilitate discussions on water management issues and encourage locally driven collaborative solutions,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/cwcb.colorado.gov\/about-us\/basin-roundtables\" id=\"link-1ded28e9b03b2c93c3ed3942b9f50ca5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CWCB Basin Roundtable website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They are made up of local volunteer members who represent a variety of interests including agriculture, environment and recreation. Monthly meetings are open to the public, and are where funding and other strategic decisions are made. There are <a href=\"https:\/\/dnrweblink.state.co.us\/cwcbsearch\/ElectronicFile.aspx?docid=211970&amp;dbid=0\" id=\"link-77da6d1683627ea28fe3ca82812b80f7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">35 members<\/a> on the Southwest Basin Roundtable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou, and others who care about water conservation, can participate and help influence the decision-making process,\u201d the news release says. \u201cThe first step toward responsibly managing water is working to ensure the public helps shape these plans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The next Southwest Basin Roundtable is at 3 p.m. Oct. 28 via Zoom.
