Mountainfilm on Tour, which boasts \u201cadventure-packed and inspiring documentary films\u201d from the Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride, will visit the Dolores Community Center on Nov. 6.<\/span>du1-i-syn<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n

Mountain Film on Tour will arrive at the Dolores Community Center Nov. 6 beginning at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m., and tickets are $15.<\/p>\n

Fourteen short films will be viewed on a variety of outdoor adventure, human interest, and conservation themes. To view a list, visit the mountain film website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a couple of hours of great films, there is something for everyone,\u201d said organizer Scott Clow.<\/p>\n

The family friendly event includes a section of kid films such as \u2018Wild Child, \u201824 Leeches,\u2019 and \u2018Around the Block\u2019 about a cartoonist.<\/p>\n

Check out films about extreme mountain bike stunts, an Antarctica base camp, powder skiing, the genesis of snowboarding, underwater river running, and the story of a blind skateboarder, plus more.<\/p>\n

There will be a silent auction for outdoor gear, artwork, and gift certificates. Food will be provided by Kelly\u2019s Kitchen, and the Dolores River Brewery will provide craft beers.<\/p>\n

Dolores Mountain Film is a fundraiser for Greater Dolores Action, which produces the popular Dolores River River Festival held in June.<\/p>\n

The film and music festivals were canceled the last two years because of the pandemic, and organizers are eager to get back on track, said Clow, vice chairperson for Greater Dolores Action.<\/p>\n

The film festival was permanently changed to the fall this year to allow for time and resources to book bands for the summer music festival.<\/p>\n

Another change this year is that the films will be shown in a large, heated tent outside the community center to provide for more air flow because of the ongoing pandemic.<\/p>\n

The silent auction and food will be inside the community center, and the extra space provides more room for social distancing, Clow said.<\/p>\n

He said Great Dolores Action is \u201coptimistic\u201d the Dolores River music festival will return in 2022. The organization received a $5,000 grant from the El Pomar Foundation to help them recover from event cancellations caused by the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Greater Dolores Action works on implementing community projects and engaging citizens, Clow said.<\/p>\n

The Dolores River Festival celebrates the resource and protection of the Dolores River, along with river safety. GDA provides free, guided raft rides during the event.<\/p>\n

A recent GDA project is the installation of 16 traffic safety signs on the Boggy Draw trail system. Another goal is to improve the safety of the West Fork put-in for the Dolores River boating run.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
