{"id":43913,"date":"2021-11-04T23:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-11-05T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/navajo-nation-reports-103-more-covid-19-cases-and-5-deaths\/"},"modified":"2021-11-05T05:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-11-05T05:00:00","slug":"navajo-nation-reports-103-more-covid-19-cases-and-5-deaths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/navajo-nation-reports-103-more-covid-19-cases-and-5-deaths\/","title":{"rendered":"Navajo Nation reports 103 more COVID-19 cases and 5 deaths"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. \u2013 The Navajo Nation on Thursday reported 103 more COVID-19 cases and five deaths.<\/p>\n<p>It marked just the 13th time in the last 36 days that the tribe has recorded a coronavirus-related death.<\/p>\n<p>The latest numbers pushed the tribe\u2019s totals to 37,154 confirmed COVID-19 cases from the virus since the pandemic began more than a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>The known death toll now us at 1,493.<\/p>\n<p>Based on cases from Oct. 15-28, the Navajo Department of Health issued an advisory for 58 communities because of uncontrolled spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vaccines for 5- to 11-year-old children will also soon be available once doses are distributed and ready to administer,\u201d tribal President Jonathan Nez said in a statement Thursday. \u201cThe individual choices we make each day ultimately determine the number of new infections. We don\u2019t want to lose any more of our Navajo people to this virus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The tribe\u2019s reservation is the country\u2019s largest at 27,000 square miles and covers parts of Arizona, New Mexico and Utah.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ROCK, Ariz. \u2013 The Navajo Nation on Thursday reported 103 more COVID-19 cases and five deaths.
