(Courtesy Bureau of Land Management)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Bureau of Land Management welcomes Jon Kaminsky as the new Field Manager to the Gunnison Field Office.<\/p>\n<p>Kaminsky will be responsible for the management and stewardship of more than 20 employees and 600,000 acres of public land in the upper Gunnison River Basin of southwestern Colorado.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image naviga-align-left alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=5a62f127-6113-5676-910e-e29b0674cd71&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"576\" height=\"588\" alt=\"Jon Kaminsky is the new field manager for the Gunnison BLM office. (Courtesy Bureau of Land Management)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>\u201cJon has a proven history of building consensus and finding innovative solutions to manage public lands in Colorado, and we\u2019re thrilled to have him join our team,\u201d said acting district manager Elizabeth Dawson, in a Nov. 9 news release.<\/p>\n<p>Trained as a professional hydrogeologist, Kaminsky has earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in geology from Western Colorado University and master of science in hydrogeology from Idaho State University.<\/p>\n<p>He has broad experience in project management, National Environmental Policy Act analysis, and preparation of resource management plans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am honored to be the new field manager in a region that has played such an important part in my life,\u201d Kaminsky said. \u201cI look forward to continuing to connect with the local communities, government officials, Tribes, and stakeholders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His career has taken him all over the Western United States. He has been an educator, and an employee with the U.S. Geologic Survey and the BLM. He and his wife, Shannon Kaminsky, raised two children.<\/p>\n<p>The Kaminsky family enjoys skiing, ice hockey, hiking 14ers and cycling.
