A Legacy Foundation, awarded 33 grants totaling $72,606 to community organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Cortez-based Onward! started 20 years ago as an umbrella organization that manages fiscal investments for area nonprofits, said executive director Chuck Forth.<\/p>\n<p>Non profits, Onward!, businesses and individuals donate toward grants and scholarships funds that are awarded each year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe local philanthropy makes a difference and is focused in Montezuma County,\u201d Forth said at the award ceremony held in the Montezuma County Annex. \u201cLet\u2019s give out some money!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Five different funders supported this year\u2019s nonprofit grant awards:<\/p>\n<p>Heart of Axis Employee Giving Fund, Onward! Endowment Fund, Golden Dreams Fund, Searle Community Endowment Fund, Heartwood Fund and the Yellow Jacket Charitable Fund.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=b7cd6d54-6a54-50c2-9214-5e52c3a21994&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1414\" alt=\"Chuck Forth, executive director for Onward!, poses with grant awardees during a ceremony Friday at the Montezuma County Annex.
