(Olivia Sun\/The Colorado Sun pool)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>A prominent right-wing activist with ties to many Colorado Republicans last week called for the mass executions of politicians he said were \u201ctraitors\u201d to the country, including Gov. Jared Polis and many U.S. senators.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Oltmann, founder and president of the activist group FEC United and host of the \u201cConservative Daily\u201d podcast, made a series of comments about the hanging of political opponents on his show throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Oltmann listened as his co-host, Max McGuire, read aloud the names of the 19 Senate Republicans who this week voted with Democrats to approve an 11-week stopgap spending bill, amid far-right demands to force a government shutdown over federal vaccine mandates for employers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s your list of 19 traitors to the American people, along with all the other traitors to the American people,\u201d Oltmann said in response. \u201cI want people to go out there and get some wood. The gallows are getting wider and longer. We should be able to build gallows all the way from Washington, D.C., to California.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just have a line of executions of traitors through the United States of America,\u201d Oltmann continued. \u201cIf you guys don\u2019t think that\u2019s funny \u2013 I think it\u2019s kind of funny, actually.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis talk makes me incredibly nervous,\u201d replied McGuire.<\/p>\n<p>Later in Friday\u2019s show, Oltmann talked about an online post responding to Polis, in which he said he\u2019d called the governor a liar and a traitor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo that\u2019s what I sent to Gov. Polis. Gallows. I had to stretch that rope,\u201d Oltmann said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh boy,\u201d McGuire said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m being funny,\u201d Oltmann replied. \u201cWhy can\u2019t you be a little funny? I wish all the traitors good luck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oltmann, a Douglas County resident, is a leading figure among far-right election deniers and was <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradotimesrecorder.com\/2021\/01\/dominion-election-conspiracy-originated-in-part-during-conservatives-hunt-for-antifa-journalists\/33652\/\" id=\"link-5e7dfb50192db3db942abbe484618c5c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">instrumental in spreading a baseless conspiracy theory<\/a> that Denver-based Dominion Voting Systems helped rig the 2020 election. Oltmann is a defendant in a <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradosun.com\/2021\/10\/15\/eric-coomer-lawsuit-denver-hearing\/\" id=\"link-87cd3ce770440137fd37f7f645352419\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">defamation lawsuit<\/a> filed by a former Dominion employee.<\/p>\n<p>Kristi Burton Brown, currently the chairwoman of the Colorado Republican Party, served as the president of Oltmann\u2019s FEC United group as recently as November 2020, according to a deposition Oltmann gave in the defamation case. Burton Brown was elected state GOP chair in March 2021.<\/p>\n<p>George Brauchler, a former district attorney for the 18th Judicial District and former GOP candidate for attorney general, responded in a September <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecraigsilvermanshow.com\/podcast\/episode\/3782dd51\/episode-63-george-brauchler\" id=\"link-5b64255acfeb8818cf9e090c222de33a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">podcast interview<\/a> to concerns about his ties with Oltmann. PIN Business Network, a data services company formerly run by Oltmann, has been an advertiser on Brauchler\u2019s own radio show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoe is a friend,\u201d Brauchler said at the time. \u201cWe disagree on the election stuff. \u2026 I\u2019m not running away from Joe, I still am friendly with Joe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oltmann\u2019s comments on Friday came after <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradonewsline.com\/briefs\/i-see-a-war-coming-says-militia-leader-with-colorado-gop-ties\/\" id=\"link-188ab864ff11d890badfbb16db0db0d0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statements about a looming \u201ccivil war\u201d<\/a> made by conservative militia leader John Tiegen on an FEC United livestream this week. \u201cI see a war coming, if we don\u2019t stand together,\u201d said Tiegen, founder of the United American Defense Force, which is affiliated with FEC United.<\/p>\n<p>In previous episodes of \u201cConservative Daily\u201d posted earlier this week, Oltmann and McGuire further discussed the executions of their political opponents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went out and bought some lumber this weekend, Max, so I could build the gallows,\u201d Oltmann said on Dec. 1. \u201cSo pretty soon we\u2019ll have gallows being built all over the country, we can take care of all these traitors to our nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went and bought a bunch of rope,\u201d he added. \u201cThat way I can pull people behind my car when their body parts fall off, so it\u2019s far enough behind, doesn\u2019t get any blood on it.
