Come June, Cortez residents will be able to secure their caffeine fix at a new drive-thru coffee shop taking root on Main Street.<\/p>\n

Located at 1204 E. Main St., Longmont-based chain Ziggi\u2019s Coffee will soon serve coffee, tea, smoothies, Italian sodas and cafe-style fare.<\/p>\n

The 815-square-foot shop will feature a drive-thru, walk-up window, 11 parking spaces and a small outdoor seating area.<\/p>\n

Cortez business Image Builders LLC is heading the local franchise, with local family members Leah and Kirby Boyd and Kyan and Shalun Maloney overseeing the venture.<\/p>\n

Ziggi\u2019s will serve java and joe nearly every day of the year \u2013 even Thanksgiving (but not Christmas.)<\/p>\n

Preliminary hours are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n

The business will hire 16 to 20 employees, Leah Boyd said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re hoping to have a fun, energetic environment for our employees,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Construction on the new wood-framed building broke ground Feb. 14, and will live at the 21,073-square-foot lot that previously hosted the Sunshine Motors car dealership.<\/p>\n

The family acquired the franchise in May and proposed the idea to the city in September. The city approved the project in October.<\/p>\n

Ziggi\u2019s Coffee first opened in Longmont in 2004, and now has 48 locations in 12 states, with a store as far east as Michigan and stretching to California in the West. There are 100 more locations in development.<\/p>\n

Boyd\u2019s daughter attended Colorado State University, and family visits to the Front Range fostered a love for Ziggi\u2019s \u2013 that is, the company\u2019s beverages and their principles.<\/p>\n

Boyd said the company is \u201call about family and community,\u201d and she wants to bring those values and the convenience of a drive-thru stop to Cortez.<\/p>\n

The shop will brew Denver-based Coda Coffee, and Boyd said the family tried to keep project contractors as local as possible.<\/p>\n

The Cortez location will offer all the same menu items as the other stores, including unique flavor combinations like a raspberry truffle latte, vanilla and honey Chai tea and kids drinks like the \u2018\u2019Cotton Candy Blender.\u201c It will also offer gluten-free menu items and assorted milk varieties.<\/p>\n

Boyd is excited about seasonal promotions, including free drinks for educators at the start of the school year and for veterans on Veterans Day.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re happy to help facilitate the opening of a new business in Cortez,\u201d said Rachael Marchbanks, Cortez community and economic development director. \u201cA new coffee shop will help fill a need and also provide jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n
