Lauren Boebert on Tuesday interrupted President Joe Biden during his State of the Union address, when he was speaking about his deceased son, to blame Biden for the death of service members.<\/p>\n<p>As Biden was talking about cancer that put service members in a \u201cflag-draped coffin,\u201d Boebert yelled, \u201cYou put them in. Thirteen of them!\u201d according to The Associated Press.<\/p>\n<p>Boebert\u2019s outburst was harshly criticized by Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>Some <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradonewsline.com\/2022\/03\/01\/biden-state-of-the-union-support-democracy-ukraine\/\" id=\"link-aa0440061c90c4f857f916527dcc024f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Democrats booed Boebert<\/a>, with one lawmaker calling for Boebert to be kicked out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe State of the Union is a storied and important American tradition, and one that warrants decorum and the respect of everyone attending on both sides of the aisle,\u201d Sally Tucker, communications director for Rep. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Joe Neguse<\/strong>, a Democrat who represents the 2nd Congressional District, wrote in an email to Newsline. \u201cThe congressman believes that the congresswoman\u2019s outburst was beyond the pale and disrespectful to both the President and to Coloradans of all political affiliations who watched the proceedings to hear about issues of both national and international importance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRepresentative Boebert is a courageous woman with strongly held beliefs, and I know from personal conversations that her feelings came from a place of genuine outrage and a perception that President Biden was being given a pass on his disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan,\u201d Rep. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Ken Buck<\/strong>, a Republican who represents the 4th District, said in a statement emailed to Newsline from his press secretary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, I am a firm believer in decorum, and I believe that we have seen a lack of it as our politics have become increasingly toxic during recent years,\u201d Buck said. \u201cThe State of the Union is not a time for theater, as Speaker Nancy Pelosi treated it by ripping up President Trump\u2019s speech while directly behind him for the cameras. Congress is not a focus group, as both parties have acted while booing and chanting during presidential addresses for years now. It is also not a time for heckling, as Lauren unfortunately did last night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During a news conference after Biden\u2019s speech, Rep. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Jason Crow<\/strong>, a Democrat from the 6th District, called Boebert\u2019s interruption \u201centirely inappropriate,\u201d and said he would encourage her to \u201cstop the outbursts.\u201d Crow called Boebert\u2019s interruption a stain on her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongresswoman Boebert\u2019s outburst was uncalled for and would have been inappropriate at any time during such an event, but certainly as President Biden was talking as a parent about the loss of a child and how our country can better help veterans,\u201d Rep. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Ed Perlmutter<\/strong>, a Democrat of the 7th District, said via a statement emailed to Newsline from his communications director.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a moment of great challenge for the nation and the world, and it is hard to see how her disgraceful behavior helps anybody living in Colorado,\u201d Sen. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Bennet<\/strong>, a Democrat, said in a statement emailed to Newsline by his state deputy communications director.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Upcoming election<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/coloradonewsline.com\/2021\/08\/27\/boeberts-sole-republican-challenger-wants-a-return-to-ethical-representation\/\" id=\"link-d942aefd389ff14569f63197aa0f9666\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Marina Zimmerman<\/strong><\/a>, who is running to unseat Boebert in this year\u2019s Republican primary, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Marina4Colorado\/status\/1498868268920184834\" id=\"link-67e9dce8326a7a04897d7f9f4548a24b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted <\/a>that Boebert \u201chumiliated our great state in front of millions of viewers\u201d by attacking Biden as he was talking about his dead son. \u201cIf members of Congress can come together &amp; condemn her in a bipartisan fashion, we will unseat her the same way,\u201d Zimmerman tweeted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether you agree or disagree with Joe Biden and his State of the Union address, Lauren Boebert\u2019s actions were embarrassing to all of us who call Colorado home,\u201d state Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradonewsline.com\/briefs\/state-sen-coram-to-run-against-rep-boebert-in-primary-election\/\" id=\"link-84116e8ab97f12389b180c6d38272807\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Don Coram<\/strong><\/a><strong>, <\/strong>R-Montrose, who is also running against Boebert in the primary, said in a statement Wednesday. \u201cHer juvenile behavior and antics for attention are better served in a junior high school or a side show at a carnival. Her lack of respect for the people she represents and the institution she serves is obvious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegardless of our politics, Lauren Boebert heckling President Biden while he spoke about his dead son, an Army veteran, isn\u2019t just disrespectful to him personally as a grieving father, it\u2019s disrespectful to our service members,\u201d <\/p>\n<p><strong>Sol Sandoval<\/strong>, who is running in the Democratic primary for the 3rd District, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SolforCO\/status\/1498860751078891522\" id=\"link-a1646e66a93efdaf1b90517f37b2f507\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted <\/a>Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>State Rep. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Donald Valdez, <\/strong>D-La Jara, who is also running in the Democratic primary, wrote, \u201cLet\u2019s send her home!\u201d in a tweet.<\/p>\n<p>The primary is June 28 and the general election is Nov. 8.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">About the speech<\/div>\n<p>Biden was speaking about his son, Beau Biden, who served in the Iraq War and died of brain cancer in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen they came home, many of the world\u2019s fittest and best trained warriors were never the same. Headaches. Numbness. Dizziness,\u201d Biden said in his <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradonewsline.com\/briefs\/bidens-state-of-the-union-address\/\" id=\"link-de2f40d3f37507c03657f73edc5461b7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">address<\/a>. \u201cA cancer that would put them in a flag-draped coffin. I know. One of those soldiers was my son Maj. Beau Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked for a comment about the criticism that Boebert, who represents Colorado\u2019s 3rd Congressional District, has received over her comments, Jake Settle, Boebert\u2019s press secretary, directed Newsline to two of Boebert\u2019s tweets.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cWhen Biden said flag draped coffins I couldn\u2019t stay silent,\u201d Boebert <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/laurenboebert\/status\/1498866487611830275?s=20&amp;t=DSWcWTH05AKz0agSjaZrkg\" id=\"link-f3f4af8b403a88ee57c9d93ce2564c6b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted <\/a>from her personal account Tuesday night. \u201cI told him directly he did it. He put 13 in there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cThe left is pissed because I called out Biden\u2019s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan that left 13 of America\u2019s finest in a flag-draped coffin,\u201d Boebert <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/laurenboebert\/status\/1499021731553587204?s=20&amp;t=DSWcWTH05AKz0agSjaZrkg\" id=\"link-4ecb2394d196384a9e17e3e2e8ae975a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted <\/a>Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Boebert was referring to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/08\/29\/1032044382\/what-we-know-about-the-13-u-s-service-members-killed-in-the-kabul-attack\" id=\"link-0b720ad97363869ebfa505c0ebf52374\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">terrorist attack<\/a> outside the Kabul airport last summer, where 13 American service members were killed in a bomb attack, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/03\/01\/1083866989\/boebert-heckled-biden-afghanistan-state-of-the-union\" id=\"link-7ee676bc5ee1a1be0655b5410aab8407\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NPR<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During the speech, both Boebert and Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradonewsline.com\/2022\/03\/01\/biden-state-of-the-union-support-democracy-ukraine\/\" id=\"link-dc066113fca81a7679fadacf85684f38\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stood up and yelled<\/a> \u201cbuild the wall\u201d when Biden was speaking about immigration policy.
