(Jim Mimiaga\/The Journal)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Lewis-Arriola and Dolores fire crews responded to a brush fire in the Lebanon neighborhood Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The fire at the corner of County Road T and County Road 24 burned into a pile of hay and spread to a pile of wood chips in windy conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters responded to the fire at 5:30 p.m., contained it at 6:15 p.m. and extinguished it at 7:30 p.m. No injuries or structure damage were reported, said Montezuma County Sheriff Deputy Peter Schmalz.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=f80d7b70-f52c-511a-8ea3-1303dd20aa3b&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"720\" height=\"371\" alt=\"Crews contain a fire in a chip pile on County Road T. (Jim Mimiaga\/The Journal)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Lewis-Arriola Volunteer Fire Department Chief George Deavers operated a backhoe to dig out hot spots in the piles, while fire crews doused the debris with water and worked shovels.<\/p>\n<p>Dolores firefighter Kim Jones said the fire put up heavy smoke in windy conditions. The fire\u2019s cause was not immediately available.<\/p>\n<p>It was not known whether the fire was a controlled burn.
