{"id":40390,"date":"2022-05-27T01:31:42","date_gmt":"2022-05-27T07:31:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/micah-rudosky-of-cortez-battles-at-cut-line-in-senior-pga\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T02:55:19","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T08:55:19","slug":"micah-rudosky-of-cortez-battles-at-cut-line-in-senior-pga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/micah-rudosky-of-cortez-battles-at-cut-line-in-senior-pga\/","title":{"rendered":"Micah Rudosky of Cortez battles at cut line in Senior PGA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=183febcb-638d-4b97-8bcc-61edb895a32d&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1382\" alt=\"Micah Rudosky, head professional at Conquistador Golf Course in Cortez, finished among the top 35 in the field of PGA Club Professionals to land a coveted spot in next year\u2019s KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">Micah Rudosky, head professional at Conquistador Golf Course in Cortez, finished among the top 35 in the field of PGA Club Professionals to land a coveted spot in next year\u2019s KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Durango herald file photo<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Through 18 holes of the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championships, the cut line is in sight.<\/p>\n<p>And Cortez club professional Micah Rudosky looks to add another feat to a storied career \u2013 making the cut at a PGA major.<\/p>\n<p>At Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, Michigan, Rudosky sits within striking distance of the cut after an opening-round 74 placed him in a tie for 102nd place.<\/p>\n<p>After a year in which Rudosky battled a tough course at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to finish 13 over par in the 2021 Senior PGA Championships \u2013 his Senior PGA Championship debut \u2013Rudosky enjoyed a much more successful opening round at Harbor Shores.<\/p>\n<p>Rudosky opened with four consecutive pars to begin his afternoon round before getting into red numbers for the first time with a birdie on the par-5 fifth hole.<\/p>\n<p>Bogies on six and eight pushed him to make the turn at 1-over par, but a white-hot start to the back nine saw him climb the leaderboard again. Rudosky picked up his second birdie of the day on the par-5 10th hole and backed it up with a birdie on 12 to get to 1 under.<\/p>\n<p>However, a string of four consecutive bogies on holes 13 through 16 dropped him to 3-over par.  A pair of pars to wrap up the day kept Rudosky within striking distance heading into Friday\u2019s second round.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019ll tee up his second round at 9:09 Eastern time, beginning with the back nine, with the ambition of pulling himself into contention to make the top half of the field and play over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>After Round 1, Bob Estes of the United States and Steven Alker of New Zealand sat atop the leaderboard at 7-under par.
