(Courtesy Montezuma County)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Montezuma County is seeking a new county administrator.<\/p>\n<p>Current administrator Shak Powers announced he will resign to take a project manager position with Region 9 Economic Development. His last day is June 17.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been honored to work with the commissioners, staff and public to address many issues during my time in administration,\u201d Powers stated in a Montezuma County Facebook post. \u201cIn my new position with Region 9, I am committed to continuing to work with the county to engage the needs of the county as well as the region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Powers has been county administrator since December 2018, and was previously the county landfill manager. He said his new position with Region 9 will focus on broadband, housing and economic development issues.<\/p>\n<p>A job posting for the county administrator position states the county is seeking qualified applicants. Preferred qualifications include:<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-x-im-unordered-list\">Bachelor\u2019s degree in public administration, business or closely related field.<\/div>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-x-im-unordered-list\">Or least five years of direct progressive experience in local government administration.<\/div>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-x-im-unordered-list\">Or equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.<\/div>\n<p>The posted salary range for county administrator is $103,000 to $114,000, depending on experience and qualifications. He really hit his stride in the position and served the county well,\u201d Lindsay said.<\/p>\n<p>Lindsay said the county will take time to hire the right candidate.
