A memorial service will be held for Travis Beeson, a Cortez man who was fatally injured during a collision last week.<\/p>\n

The service will start at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Evangel Assembly of God Church.<\/p>\n

According to a Cortez Police Department affidavit, Beeson was injured May 25 after Gabrielle D. Doctor, of Kayenta, Arizona, driving a Subaru, collided with Beeson\u2019s motorcycle while turning left into the intersection at Main and South Sligo streets. He died Friday.<\/p>\n

A candlelight vigil was held Sunday in Cortez to celebrate his life.<\/p>\n

According to an obituary from Ertel Funeral Home, Beeson, 20, was born in Tucson, Arizona. His family soon moved to Midland, Texas, and then to Cortez when he was in eighth grade.<\/p>\n

Beeson was a two-sport athlete for Montezuma-Cortez High School, playing both basketball and baseball. A catcher, Beeson was known for encouraging his teammates and having a positive attitude.<\/p>\n

He also was known as an avid hunter and fisherman who loved to ride dirt bikes with friends in Farmington and Montrose.<\/p>\n

Beeson was employed at Safeway as a manager of online services and was loved by co-workers and customers, the obituary said.<\/p>\n

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. A GoFundMe<\/a> account was started to support the Beeson family with hospital and funeral costs.<\/p>\n
