{"id":38834,"date":"2022-08-19T01:51:49","date_gmt":"2022-08-19T07:51:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/music-festival-in-dolores-will-feature-13-bands-on-two-stages\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T02:46:58","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T08:46:58","slug":"music-festival-in-dolores-will-feature-13-bands-on-two-stages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/music-festival-in-dolores-will-feature-13-bands-on-two-stages\/","title":{"rendered":"Music festival in Dolores will feature 13 bands on two stages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=cd9567d4-f157-5218-8245-1a73c341a405&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"720\" height=\"580\" alt=\"Local reggae band Niceness, fronted by lead singer Koral Delatierra, will perform at the iamMusicFestival in Dolores Aug. 26-27.\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">Local reggae band Niceness, fronted by lead singer Koral Delatierra, will perform at the iamMusicFestival in Dolores Aug. 26-27.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>A new music festival will take place in Dolores Aug. 26-27.<\/p>\n<p>The IamMusicFest features 13 bands alternating between two stages.<\/p>\n<p>The evening performances will take place on a lot next to Kokopelli Bike and Board, and at the Dolores River Brewery outdoor stage across Central Street.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday the lineup is Lavalanche, Tone Dog, DJ Panacea, Haro in the Dark, Niceness and Hello Dollface.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday performances are by Bentley Monk, Loki Moon, Cousin Curtiss, Sean Farley, Baracutango, Liver Down the River and Elder Grown, with Dolores local Sam Kelly on saxophone.<\/p>\n<p>Durango-based IamMusicFest started eight years ago to promote live music and youth music education, said director Jesse Ogle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re branching out to local towns, providing opportunity for professional musicians and artists,\u201d he said. \u201cWe like to keep it creative, and not do the same thing every year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So far this year they have put on eight regional music festivals. Last year, they hosted 12 concert and artist galas.<\/p>\n<p>A portion of proceeds go toward music programs and workshops at local schools, Ogle said. The Dolores festival will benefit the Dolores Schools music programs.<\/p>\n<p>The organization hosts regular concert series in Durango, and recently expanded its events to Mancos, Silverton, and now Dolores.<\/p>\n<p>IamMusicFest events typically feature the artistic expression world, which may include artwork, dancers, comedians, circus acts, and poets, although the Dolores event will not include that aspect.<\/p>\n<p>At the Dolores shows the audience will appreciate the variety of music genres the festival brings, Ogle said, and there are some hidden gems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a chance for people to be exposed to new music they may not have heard, this is a great chance for that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Styles include blues, soul, Reggae, singer-songwriter, electronic dance music, funk and Americana.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $15 Friday and $20 for Saturday.
