(Joel Priest\/ Special to the Herald)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Altering its 2022 schedule, Bayfield cross-country elected to remain in the Four Corners for Labor Day weekend and competed Friday at the Loyd\u2019s Lake Classic in Monticello, Utah, instead of traveling to Leadville for the Saturday\u2019s Lake County Invitational.<\/p>\n<p>Junior Tristan Sager again led the Wolverine boys, placing 36th in 21 minutes, 18.2 seconds and helping BHS finish seventh in the team standings with 214 points. Sophomore Hunter Carroll finished 48th in 23:39.3, and freshman Daemon Christner was 50th in 25:22.8. Freshman Tristan Bennett took 52nd in 29:40.1, and sophomore Will Kennedy-Jones ended up 53rd only 1.4 seconds later, to round out Bayfield\u2019s tea score.<\/p>\n<p>Grand Junction Central won the team title with 20 points, and meet-hosting Monticello (UHSAA Class 1A) took second with 78. Utah\u2019s 5A Provo came in third with 82, just ahead of 2A Salina, Utah\u2019s North Sevier (86). Central completed a top-three sweep in the individual standings with seniors Alex Fisher (16:31.7), Shalom Trowbridge (16:38.7) and Jackson Edwards (17:08.7).<\/p>\n<p>From Utah\u2019s Class 3A ranks, Moab-based Grand County went 1-2-3 in the girls varsity feature as sophomore Ainsleigh Kasprick (20:36.6) and senior Cora Baird (20:50.9) followed junior Cadence Kasprick (20:20.7) across the finish line. Grand County took home the team title, with their 27 points one-half that of runners-up G.J.
