St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and Grace\u2019s Kitchen are preparing for their 20th annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner in Cortez.<\/p>\n

The meal will be served takeout from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24. Grace\u2019s Kitchen is requesting that everyone who would like a meal call or email ahead to arrange a pickup time for themselves and their family.<\/p>\n

Those who are unable to leave their homes can sign up for a delivery up until noon on Nov. 21.<\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s event served more than 350 people, and the Rev. Doug Bleyle of St. Barnabas said he expects about the same number this year. The church is still looking for volunteers and donations. Last year, 50 volunteers assisted with the event.<\/p>\n

Bleyle said the church\u2019s greatest need is for financial donations, since most of the food that can be cooked in advance has been purchased already.<\/p>\n

To serve the masses, cooks prepared 27 turkeys, 13 gallons of gravy, 59 pies, 200 pounds of potatoes, 400 homemade rolls, plus multiple pots of stuffing, cranberry sauce and green beans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
