(Jerry McBride\/Durango Herald)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Purgatory Resort won praise last weekend from <em id=\"emphasis-d20ad7d8a4e09e630c3d4c392e3bc9c0\">The Wall Street Journal,<\/em> which declared the \u201cworld class\u201d ski area 30 minutes north of Durango as one of four resorts that won\u2019t cost a fortune.<\/p>\n<p>Purgatory met a threshold to be considered a wallet-friendly skiing experience while still offering quality amenities, according to the write-up.<\/p>\n<p>Other resorts that made the list included Bridger Bowl in Bozeman, Montana, Whitewater Ski Area in Nelson, British Columbia, and Mad River Glen in Waitsfield, Vermont.<\/p>\n<p>The article commended Purgatory for its \u201cclassic Rocky Mountain\u201d skiing experience and it diversity of different runs.
