The La Plata County Sheriff\u2019s Office on Tuesday identified the victim of a shooting that occurred Monday southwest of Durango.<\/p>\n

Stephen Sanders, 54, was shot and killed shortly before 12:20 p.m. inside a home on County Road 133, according to the Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Investigators reported Sanders was found deceased at the home when police arrived.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement questioned witnesses who were in the residence at the time of the shooting, but no arrests had been made as of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.<\/p>\n

An autopsy of Sanders was performed Tuesday morning. Sheriff\u2019s Office spokesman Chris Burke said the shooting appears to be intentional.<\/p>\n

La Plata County Coroner Jann Smith said investigators were not prepared Tuesday afternoon to release the number of times Sanders was shot, or where on his body he was shot.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re waiting to hear back from investigators to see if there will be charges or no charges,\u201d Burke said.<\/p>\n
