Eli Tomac was the third-fastest qualifier Saturday, Feb. 11, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. (Star Racing Yamaha)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n

Racing during a break in the rain Saturday night in Tampa, Chase Sexton crashed late in 450 Supercross in Raymond James Stadium and surrendered the lead and victory to Cooper Webb. Series-leading Eli Tomac was fifth.<\/p>\n

Tomac\u2019s finish allowed Sexton to come within two points of his lead in the standings, 113-111. Webb\u2019s win put him solidly into third place overall, at 109 points. Jason Anderson and Ken Roczen are in fourth and fifth places, with 93 and 92 points, respectively.<\/p>\n

As the main event got underway, Sexton jumped out to an early over Webb in the 450cc main event. Aaron Plessinger was third, Adam Cianciarulo was fourth, and Roczen was fifth.<\/p>\n

Tomac was sixth.<\/p>\n

Cianciarulo crashed in the whoops and got back up in seventh place, moving Roczen and Tomac up a spot. Neither would go much higher.<\/p>\n

By Lap 7, Sexton had a two-second leader over Webb. Tomac was 10 seconds back in fifth place, losing ground behind Roczen but still comfortably ahead of Justin Cooper.<\/p>\n

By Lap 17, Tomac was 23 seconds off the pace, and eight seconds behind Roczen. At the front, Sexton and Webb charged for the finish line, about a second apart but 11 seconds ahead of the pack.<\/p>\n

Then, in Lap 22, Webb\u2019s relentless pressure paid off. Sexton crashed and surrendered the lead to Webb, who quickly took a commanding eight-second lead. Sexton got up to finish second, and crossed the finish line 6.169 seconds behind Webb in Lap 25.<\/p>\n

Plessinger was third, and Roczen and Tomac were fourth and fifth, respectively.<\/p>\n

Qualifying heats: Sexton and Anderson<\/div>\n

In Heat 2, Tomac, who lined up between pole winner Sexton and Webb at the start, took the lead at the first turn, but gave way to Sexton in the first lap and trailed the leader by nearly 4 seconds after three laps.<\/p>\n

Plessinger passed Tomac in the whoops for third place in Lap 4, and Roczen and Justin Barcia rounded out the top five.<\/p>\n

Sexton widened his lead midway through Heat 2 and crossed the finish line in the ninth lap 7.813 seconds ahead of Plessinger. Tomac was third, 10 seconds off Sexton\u2019s pace, and Barcia and Roczen finished fourth and fifth to round out the top five.<\/p>\n

In Heat 1, Anderson took the lead after passing holeshot winner Adam Cianciarulo in Lap 2 and leading the remaining seven laps for the win. Christian Craig was third, and Benny Bloss and Dean Wilson filled out the top five.<\/p>\n

Tomac was third-fastest during timed qualifying runs Saturday afternoon after completing his best of two laps in 48.711 seconds. Sexton was fastest at 48.555 seconds, and Anderson was second at 48.599. Cianciarulo and Webb filled out the top five.<\/p>\n
