Eli Tomac of Cortez crashed in the third and deciding moto Saturday night during the 450 Supercross in Arlington, Texas, and finished the Triple Crown event in third place overall.<\/p>\n

Cooper Webb passed Jason Anderson and Chase Sexton for a dramatic win in Moto 3 and won the overall race after placing fifth and second in the first two motos, for eight points. Sexton was second overall with two third-place finishes and a second. Webb was given the overall victory over Sexton by winning the tiebreaking third race.<\/p>\n

Tomac was third overall with a first, fourth and sixth (11 points). Jason Anderson and Ken Roczen filled out the top five with 12 points each.<\/p>\n

Tomac entered AT&T Stadium with a seven-point lead over Webb and Sexton in the season standings. With the win, Webb solidified his position in second, with a three-point lead over Sexton, 158-155.<\/p>\n

Tomac remains on top, 160-158.<\/p>\n

Moto 1: Tomac all the way<\/div>\n

Tomac took the early lead in the first of three motos, with Roczen and Justin Barcia racing about a second behind. Aaron Plessinger and Colt Nichols rounded out the top five after two laps.<\/p>\n

As Tomac stretched out a two-second lead in Lap 4, Sexton and Webb were and in sixth and seventh place, more than eight seconds back. By the end of the sixth lap, Sexton and Cooper had moved into fifth and sixth place. Nichols dropped to eighth.<\/p>\n

Sexton continued his charge to the front, passing Plessinger for fourth place in Lap 9 and immediately challenged Barcia before passing him for third in Lap 13.<\/p>\n

Roczen inched toward Tomac, but as the white flag came out, Tomac stepped up the pace and crossed the finish line first in Lap 16, 1.306 seconds ahead.<\/p>\n

Sexton was third, only 3.433 seconds behind Tomac, and Barcia held off Webb for fourth place.<\/p>\n

Moto 2: Sexton vs. Tomac<\/div>\n

After a wire-to-wire win in Moto 1, Tomac started Moto 2 behind Webb in third after Anderson took the early lead in Lap 2.<\/p>\n

Halfway through the moto in Lap 8, Sexton threatened Tomac for third place. He passed Tomac in Lap 9, and by Lap 14 stretched out a 5-second lead.<\/p>\n

Anderson comfortably rode to the finish line, beating runner-up Webb by 2.778 seconds. Sexton was third, 3.771 seconds behind Anderson, and Tomac was fourth, 10.904 seconds off the pace. Plessinger was fifth.<\/p>\n

Moto 3: Tomac\u2019s lead crumbles<\/div>\n

Entering Moto 3 with a win and a fourth-place finish for a total of five points, Tomac had a one-point lead over Sexton, who finished third in the first two motos (six points). Webb was third with fifth- and second-place finishes (seven points).<\/p>\n

Tomac needed a good start, and he got it.<\/p>\n

He broke to the early lead in the third and deciding moto, with Sexton was on his tail.<\/p>\n

Barcia was in third, and Anderson and Webb filled out the top five. Barcia crashed in Lap 5, moving Anderson up to third and Webb to fourth.<\/p>\n

By Lap 6, Tomac lead had grown to 3.670 seconds, but Sexton bounced back to cut the lead to 2.614 seconds in Lap 7 after running the fastest lap of the race.<\/p>\n

Tomac\u2019s lead crumbled in Lap 8.<\/p>\n

Tomac crashed and fell to fourth place, then was passed by Roczen and Plessinger to finish sixth.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Webb shot past Anderson and Sexton for the lead and the victory. Sexton was second, and Anderson, Roczen and Plessinger rounded out the top five.<\/p>\n

Qualifying laps<\/div>\n

During timed qualifying rounds on Saturday, Anderson turned in a best lap of 46.280 seconds, the fastest lap of two runs. Roczen was No. 2 at 46.335 seconds, and Sexton was third at 46.339. Tomac was fourth at 46.504 seconds, and Webb was fifth at 46.613.<\/p>\n

The Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship series continues Saturday, March 4, at the legendary Daytona International Speedway, where Tomac has won a record six times. Tomac beat Ricky Carmichael\u2019s record of five wins at Daytona on March 7, 2022.<\/p>\n
