(San Juan County Fire and Rescue)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>A day after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sjcfrnm\/posts\/pfbid02dKsyQtuHKhUn8JHvgQA1UJjuPpybo8tMV8ZkMqzQm6QgcgNgXbiS2teQbEGD3ENFl\" id=\"link-68695ff2a5cb7bfc12f6c3ead0371618\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Juan County Fire and Rescue<\/a> responded to an electrical transformer fire at Kirtland Central High School, students studied remotely on Tuesday while crews worked to repair electrical systems at the school.<\/p>\n<p>Central Consolidated School District announced on its<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/CentralConsolidatedSchools\/posts\/pfbid0386B2a5sawNG8yBf1ag1QFyKfZ9R4GqxSQ8CFkcvEiRE8czVufFdynp8vRfxPaaKul\" id=\"link-14bb0ab76a9b3a78bda6880fdffa3dda\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Facebook page<\/a> that the building would be without electricity for the morning and part of the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>All other schools such as Kirtland Middle School and elementary schools in the area \u2013 Ojo Amarillo, Kirtland Elementary, and Judy Nelson \u2013 continued in-class instruction on a regular schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Kirtland Central High School staff was available until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to assist students in gathering materials for remote learning.<\/p>\n<p>KCHS students are also able to pick up breakfast at 7:45 a.m. and lunch at 11:30 a.m. at the middle school.<\/p>\n<p>Monday, the school was ordered to shelter in place, with parents asked to standby for more information when the fire broke out.<\/p>\n<p>Fire crews cleared the scene and handed any additional management back over to the utility crews. Farmington Electric Utility System power crews were on scene to manage restoration of electrical services.
