(Courtesy San Juan County)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Five members of the San Juan County Fire and Rescue Tech Team participated in an ice training course at Lake Nighhorse near Durango on Feb. 27 and 28.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arroyorescue.com\/\" id=\"link-56976afa2dd6476153cba6d8375944e5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arroyo Rescue<\/a>, based in Durango, conducted the 16-hour, two-day class, according the Devin Neeley, San Juan County public relations and film director.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=6f55b114-e504-5b17-b69e-fec0919eddcf&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"600\" height=\"270\" alt=\"Seven members of San Juan County Fire and Rescue Tech Team become certified in ice rescue. (David Edward Albright\/Durango Herald)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Both days of the class were conducted in Durango \u2013 one day of classroom instruction and one day at Lake Nighthorse. Paid staff and volunteers were in the class.<\/p>\n<p>Neeley said the \u201ctechnical rescue team is quite large and has members who are specifically trained in a number of different disciplines, some are cross-trained.\u201d Seven members are now certified in ice rescue.<\/p>\n<p>Arroyo Rescue offers rope rescue courses, swiftwater rescue, ice rescue, wilderness medicine, confined space rescue, boat operations and recreational boating, climbing, rappelling and canyoneering.<\/p>\n<p>Training consisted of one day in the classroom and the other with practical application at Lake Nighthorse.
