(Curtis Ray Benally\/Turkeyboy Photography via The Journal)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Curtis Ray Benally<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>BLOOMFIELD \u2013 In what was both a celebration and a coronation Monday night at Bloomfield High School, the Bobcats football team took a moment to look at the importance of the program to the surrounding community.<\/p>\n<p>Coaches, players and administrators from BHS gathered in the school\u2019s auditorium to hand out championship rings for the team\u2019s efforts in winning the Class 4A state football title in November. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.daily-times.com\/story\/sports\/high-school\/football\/2022\/11\/27\/bobcats-football-team-earns-class-4a-title-with-13-7-win-over-silver\/69678883007\/\" id=\"link-d9bd4e0784145743bfd601626f562360\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Bobcats defeated Silver by a final of 13-7<\/a>, giving the team its first state title since 1966.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=0c622995-4fb2-517f-b1f8-a81018c1915e&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" alt=\"Bloomfield quarterback Ryan Sharpe gains a few yards before being tackled by Silver left linebacker Mason Lockett in the fourth quarter during the State Class 4A championship game at Bobcat Stadium Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022. (Curtis Ray Benally \u2013 Turkeyboy Photography\/The Journal)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Curtis Ray Benally<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Head coach Mike Kovacs thanked the players and assistant coaches who helped guide the team to a 12-1 record and a state title and also thanked the community as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve been so excited and supportive to the team,\u201d Kovacs said. \u201cYou see that spirit in the businesses and everyone around town. The whole city has been absolutely fantastic and amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- gallery:55ac4b8c-db11-45a6-a948-964d0d273c36 --><\/p>\n<p>Players each received championship rings, and posed for photos with the New Mexico Activities Association\u2019s \u201cBlue Trophy,\u201d which goes to state champions in all high school sports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe accomplishment of finally getting it done feels amazing and complete to a season,\u201d Kovacs said. \u201cI have been and always will be so proud of this team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=906b4004-0271-5406-88e9-60b24ef66dbd&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"1008\" height=\"567\" alt=\"Bloomfield Bobcats Class 4A State Championship Ring.
