DMV2GO, the Department of Motor Vehicles\u2019 mobile service program, will hold pop-up events in Ignacio, Durango and Silverton over the next two weeks. The program is partnering with Manna, Compa\u00f1eros: Four Corners Immigrant Resource Center, La Plata Family Centers Coalition, the Southern Ute Tribe and town of Silverton.<\/p>\n

Residents of the region will be able to renew, replace or receive first-time Colorado ID\u2019s if they have the proper documentation.<\/p>\n

The goal of the service is to make the DMV\u2019s critical services \u2013 issuing IDs and driver\u2019s licenses \u2013 more accessible to residents of rural, underserved areas, as well as houseless people.<\/p>\n

Marissa Hunt, resource center manager at Manna soup kitchen, said having an ID is a critical, and often missing, component in securing housing and employment.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of us really kind of take for granted the ease of what it\u2019s like to have an ID and keep that going,\u201d Hunt said. \u201cA lot of the folks we work with, they might have had an ID from another state and maybe got lost somewhere along their journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

June 12<\/strong>: 8 a.m. \u2013 5 p.m. at Silverton School\n <\/p>\n

June 13<\/strong>: 8 a.m. \u2013 5 p.m. at Silverton School<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

One of the DMV pop-ups will be held at Manna to bring the DMV\u2019s services to the clients that take advantage of other offerings at the resource center.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re trying to bring more services under one roof,\u201d Hunt said. \u201cWe often find that once you provide a service or set someone up to go receive a service at another area, there\u2019s a high drop-off rate once you leave campus.\u201d<\/p>\n

To obtain an ID, one must provide a physical address \u2013 post office boxes are not accepted. Manna has long-provided its own address for people who need an ID but do not have a stable residence, and its staff will be on-site at DMV2GO events with form letters that will serve as necessary proof of address.<\/p>\n

Manna staff members will also provide payment for DMV services on behalf of those who may require financial assistance.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re really excited to get this down in the Southwest region and pilot a few clinics,\u201d Hunt said.<\/p>\n
