(Shylee Graf\/The Journal)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>On May 12, police were called to respond to TruWest Auto in Cortez regarding property damage and the theft of eight vehicles and five sets of keys.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police report obtained by <em id=\"emphasis-5fed51f4beff99ecfa54b9cc7936de85\">The Journal,<\/em> employee Arturo Reyes reported that the gate to the back lot \u201chad been pulled out of the ground,\u201d appearing to have been driven through. The washroom bay door was also open when Reyes arrived at work around 6:45 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police report written by officer Koltan Guttridge, those eight stolen vehicles are:<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-x-im-unordered-list\">2019 Nissan Titan pickup.2019 Dodge Ram 1500 Classic pickup.2015 GMC Sierra pickup.2020 Jeep Renegade.2019 Dodge Ram 1500 ST pickup.2020 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV.2023 GMC Acadia SUV.2019 Ford F150 pickup.<\/div>\n<p>The 2019 Ford F150 was recovered in the parking lot of Mesa Elementary School, and the 2023 GMC Acadia was \u201crecovered in the 22000 block of Road G,\u201d Guttridge reported.<\/p>\n<p>According to a different police report written by officer Ryan Hancock, the GMC Acadia was found with \u201crear-end damage\u201d and a blown out \u201crear driver\u2019s-side tire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A key belonging to a Jeep Compass Latitude was also found near the Acadia, Hancock reported, with elaboration.<\/p>\n<p>Employees of TruWest Auto also discovered that a 2006 PT Cruiser and a 2018 Chevy Silverado had been damaged, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>Five sets of keys were also discovered to be missing after an inventory by TruWest employees, Guttridge wrote. The keys were for the following vehicles:<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-x-im-unordered-list\">2019 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup.2019 Ford F150 pickup.2016 Chevy Trax SUV.2018 Chevy Silverado<strong> <\/strong>pickup.2023 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup.<\/div>\n<p>In an interview with a <em id=\"emphasis-32df6cc9504d2d5d927bb983ce4f7191\">Journal<\/em> reporter, owner and General Manager Geno Trujillo said  the vehicles that have been returned sustained minimal damage, with the exception of one car that seemed to be driven through the locked gate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCortez Police did a great job.
