(Bonnie Candelaria\/Courtesy photo)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Groundhog Lake has been stocking up on fish in preparation for the 2023 summer season.<\/p>\n<p>On May 31, the reservoir had its first dump of fish from the Pitkin County Hatchery, and they released 2,500 catchable fish for fishermen.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=245023e0-e6ac-5bcd-9aac-bfae6cb02a3a&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1474\" alt=\"A large trout that was caught at Groundhog Lake in 2018. (Bonnie Candelaria\/Courtesy photo)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Groundhog was known for its catchable trout before the dam repair drainage in 2018, and they are working to get back to that distinction.<\/p>\n<p>Bonnie Candelaria, owner and manager of the Groundhog RV Park Convenience Store, which offers bait, drinks and boat rentals, said they are hoping for a record year at Groundhog Lake.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the abundance of water, we\u2019re sitting on a record filling of the lake,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Pitkin Hatchery plans to release 30,000 3-inch rainbow trout and 4,500 10-inch trout.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=3f7d5c44-35f4-5cfc-8a21-0ffd6d1410a4&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1440\" alt=\"Groundhog Lake Reservoir is reaching record water levels this year.
