The city of Cortez is having a competition to name the five new vehicles joining the Public Works fleet, according to a news release late last week.<\/p>\n

The Refuse and Recycling Department will add four new trucks, and the Street Department is acquiring a new sweeper. The city wants residents to help name the new trucks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to add to our fleet, and we felt that naming the trucks was a fun way to engage our residents,\u201d said Public Works Director Brian Peckins. \u201cWe hope to have a lot of participation and are excited to see what folks come up with.\u201d<\/p>\n

The committee will not accept any suggestions that are vulgar or profane. One name will be selected for each truck, and each winner will receive a $100 gift card, the news release said.<\/p>\n

Residents have until Thursday, July 20 at midnight to submit their suggestions. Winners will be announced the following week.<\/p>\n
