(Courtesy of San Miguel County Sheriff\u2019s Office)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>A 17-year-old hiker was rescued Saturday evening after becoming \u201ccliffed-out\u201d on a high-alpine trail not far from the Telluride Ski Resort, according to the San Miguel County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>After receiving the late-afternoon call, county search-and-rescue team members, along with sheriff\u2019s deputies, located the Texas teen, whose name wasn\u2019t publicly shared, on a ridge not far from the Wasatch connector trail in the popular Upper Bear Creek area.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image naviga-align-left alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=988f4a7c-e5b2-51d6-8d61-09c0c7be2b6b&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"2000\" height=\"2665\" alt=\"San Miguel County search-and-rescue members and deputies safely rescued a Texas teen who had become \u201ccliffed out\u201d on a Telluride area trail Saturday evening. (Courtesy of San Miguel County Sheriff\u2019s Office)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>\u201cThe teenager, visiting from Texas, was hiking Saturday afternoon with minimal gear and tried to hike past snowfields blocking the trail high on Gold Hill (near the Telluride Ski area), got off-route and cliffed herself out,\u201d the Sheriff\u2019s Sffice shared. \u201cSearch and Rescue located the female on a ridge, and using a technical short-rope rescue method, extricated her to safety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first such effort of the season ended at dusk.
