\u201cHouse Republicans have uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden\u2019s conduct,\u201d McCarthy said in a brief statement, stating that evidence has uncovered a \u201cculture of corruption.\u201d<\/p>\n

These allegations center around claims by House Republicans that they have obtained thousands of pages of financial records through subpoenas to the Treasury Department and other financial institutions, according to AP News<\/em>. The probe will be led by chairmen of the House Judiciary, Oversight and Ways and Means committees, who have been leading investigations into the Biden family\u2019s foreign business dealings for months.<\/p>\n

U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado\u2019s 3rd District has been at the forefront of pressure from House Republicans to move forward with impeachment proceedings.<\/p>\n

In early June, she introduced articles of impeachment to the House for Biden\u2019s \u201cdereliction of duty\u201d by not \u201cenforcing our immigration laws\u201d in regard to the U.S.-Mexico border and immigration policy. The House later was forced to take a vote at the end of June to move her resolution to the House Committee on Homeland Security and the Committee on the Judiciary for further review.<\/p>\n

In response to the announcement by McCarthy, Boebert\u2019s office told The Durango Herald<\/em> in an emailed statement that she believes the impeachment inquiry announcement today is a \u201cgood start\u201d in holding Biden \u201caccountable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is clear that Joe Biden has spent his 47 years in public office engaging in corruption and trying to cover it up,\u201d the statement said, adding that while serving as vice president, Biden \u201cendangered the security of the United States by accepting millions of dollars from our foreign adversaries.\u201d<\/p>\n

There have been three memos released by the House Oversight and Accountability Republican staff that include millions of dollars received by Hunter Biden and his business associates. The memos didn\u2019t directly show any payments being to Joe Biden or for his benefit, according to The Hill<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only Biden brand is one of corruption and allegiance to foreign nations,\u201d the statement from Boebert\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n

Despite general support from House Republicans on impeachment, there have been a few holdouts, including U.S. Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado\u2019s 4th District, who holds membership in the hard-line conservative House Freedom Caucus. In a recent interview with Jen Psaki of MSNBC<\/em>, Buck said now is not the time to impeach Biden.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would guess that there is not a strong connection this point between the evidence on Hunter Biden and evidence connecting the President,\u201d Buck told the network.<\/p>\n

Instead, he said that the focus should be on \u201cimportant issues\u201d mentioning urban crime, the border, and inflation.<\/p>\n

The Herald<\/em> reached out to U.S. Sens. Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper, both of Colorado, for comment, but did not hear back before deadline.<\/p>\n
