Trinadie Xavier Lopez, who was wanted in a shooting near Empire Street on Sept. 15, surrendered to the Cortez Police Department on Friday and was arrested.<\/p>\n

He will appear at the Montezuma Combined Court on Tuesday, October 24 for his return filing of charges at 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

The Cortez Police Department on Thursday announced arrest warrants for two men believed to be connected with the street shooting, which wounded 18-year-old bystander Josilyn Mark.<\/p>\n

Police said Lopez, 19, and Delsin Gage Freeman, 18, whose warrants are labeled \u201cmost wanted\u201d on the Cortez Police Department\u2019s Crimewatch page, are considered dangerous and should not be approached.<\/p>\n

Freeman, who is still at large, is described as an American Indian\/Alaskan male who is 6 feet tall and 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.<\/p>\n

No photos of Freeman are available, officials said.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information for police may call 911 with an emergency tip, dispatch at (970) 565-8441 or give an anonymous tip through the Crimewatch app at CortezPD.org.<\/p>\n

Zane Killsinsight, 18, was arrested the night of the shooting and awaits a preliminary hearing on at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24.<\/p>\n

The shooting took place at West Empire and North Market Streets, and the PD began receiving reports of shots fired about 4:18 p.m.<\/p>\n

An altercation between two groups led to the shooting, and Mark was struck while sitting in a nearby vehicle. According to Cortez Police Chief Vernon Knuckles, officer Kristin Cannon\u2019s assistance saved Mark\u2019s life and her leg.<\/p>\n

According to Mark\u2019s grandmother, Eva Martinez, Mark is out of the hospital and going to Grand Junction every two weeks for appointments to continue checking her progress as she heals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
