(Jim Mimiaga\/The Journal)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>The Montezuma County Community &amp; Economic Development announced that young entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to sell their products during Small Business Saturday, encouraging youths to partake in future entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n<p>Young entrepreneurs will be showcased during the event where shoppers can purchase their products at the Cortez Area Chamber of Commerce, just after an educational presentation that will help guide the future business owners on what it takes to own a business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA short presentation at 8:30 AM (before the shopping event opens to the public) will feature a session on HOW to apply for a city sales tax,\u201d theCity of Cortez\u2019s Public Information Officer Kelly Codner said. \u201cYouth business owners may choose to apply for this permit to sell at future events in the city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This special event encourages the youths to sell their services, goods and crafts or whatever else they may be vending.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe City decided to waive the city sales tax for this event as it is a youth event and primarily for education purposes,\u201d Codner said.<\/p>\n<p>According to a news release, the young entrepreneurs also will not have to pay costs for booths or tables.<\/p>\n<p>Youth aged 18 or younger who represent their own personal businesses are eligible to partake in this event.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, family businesses or those primarily managed by an adult representative, parent or legal guardian are not entitled to participate during the showcase.<\/p>\n<p>To keep this running, an adult 18 years or older is required to chaperone the event.<\/p>\n<p>It will take place at the Cortez Area Chamber of Commerce at 20 W.
