President Buu Nygren signed Legislation 0231-23 into law on Thursday, Nov. 2, solidifying a significant step in the nation-building journey of Din\u00e9 Bik\u00e9yah.<\/p>\n

The legislation, which was passed unanimously by the 25th Navajo Nation Council, marks a commitment to the youths and the enhancement of educational opportunities.<\/p>\n

With the vote of 17-0, the legislation garnered unwavering support from the Navajo Nation Council. Nygren, who took office on Jan. 10, gave his seal of approval to the legislation.<\/p>\n

Legislation 0231-23, spearheaded by the Health, Education, and Human Services Committee, the Budget and Finance Committee, the Naabik\u2019\u00edy\u00e1ti\u2019 Committee, and the Navajo Nation Council, allocated $3 million from the S\u00edhasin Fund to Navajo Prep.<\/p>\n

According to the legislation<\/a>, the state of New Mexico \u201chas already provided $7 million\u201d of the total estimated cost of $10 million.<\/p>\n

The funds are designated for the construction of a new student housing building.<\/p>\n

Navajo Prep, in collaboration with Jayne\u2019s Construction, began construction in June with hopes of creating a nurturing and conducive environment for Navajo youths. Completion is expected in May.<\/p>\n

Funding comes from Legislation 0231-23, with contributions from the New Mexico Capital Outlay Bureau.<\/p>\n

\u201cProviding the $3,000,000 will enable Navajo Prep to house and serve more Navajo students and bring more higher education, training, and other learning opportunities to the community and the Navajo People,\u201d the legislation states.<\/p>\n

The signing ceremony was held at the Navajo Prep campus, specifically at the Eagle\u2019s Nest, marking the Navajo Nation\u2019s effort for its youths and opportunities in Din\u00e9 Bik\u00e9yah, also known as the Navajo Nation or lands.<\/p>\n
