A minor arrested in connection with a street shooting in Cortez in September will face a disposition hearing next month.<\/p>\n

The minor was released from the juvenile detention center in Grand Junction on Jan. 12 after Judge William Furse of the 22nd Judicial District said there wasn\u2019t enough evidence to keep him in custody.<\/p>\n

He has been staying with his guardian in Towaoc and traveling to court hearings with her.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, a representatives on the minor\u2019s counsel told Furse in court that he has remained in compliance with orders from the court, and they are working on organizing probation and counseling in Cortez so he doesn\u2019t have to go back and forth between Cortez and Towaoc as often.<\/p>\n

A condition of his release from the detention center bars him from contact with another minor thought to be involved in the shooting.<\/p>\n

That minor is the last suspect being sought by police in the incident.<\/p>\n

The minor\u2019s counsel also told Furse that he had not been able to go to school, as the school he was attending last year had closed their enrollment already and wouldn\u2019t allow him to register without a court order.<\/p>\n

Furse provided the court order. He also was informed that the minor would be supervised by the guardian\u2019s boyfriend and his grandmother while the guardian was out of town.<\/p>\n

The people also made an amendment to the charges.<\/p>\n

The minor\u2019s counsel waived formal advisement, as he is no longer eligible for a preliminary hearing. Instead, he will move forward to his disposition hearing in February.<\/p>\n

The shooting took place on Sept. 15 near Empire and Market streets, when someone fired a gun, injuring bystander Josilyn Mark. The shooting was also allegedly targeting an individual named Noah Farrar before striking Mark, according to statements made in court earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Upcoming court hearings for the others suspected to be connected to the shooting are Delsin Freeman on Monday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m., Demetrius Adams on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 11 a.m. and Trinadie Lopez on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
