The RE-1 Native American Services will host a family event for those interested in learning more about science.<\/p>\n

The Little Shop of Physics is take place at 5 p.m. March 14 in the Montezuma-Cortez High School Commons Area.<\/p>\n

The Little Shop of Physics is a branch of Colorado State University.<\/p>\n

According to the Colorado State University\u2019s Little Shop of Physics website, the program exists to \u201cfind creative ways to share the wonder of science with people of all ages, backgrounds and interests.\u201d<\/p>\n

Workers and volunteers help provide hands-on science experiences to children of all ages, with projects and materials for students ranging from kindergarten to high school seniors.<\/p>\n

The program engages students and families in attendance. It also helps provide ideas, insight and other information to current and future teachers who will engage with science.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Little Shop of Physics has always been a hands-on program, something that sets it apart from other science engagement programs. Students are the scientists in the Little Shop of Physics. But we don\u2019t just teach science, we teach that science is something anyone can do, that it is a field that is interesting and accessible to anyone. We believe, and we demonstrate, that anyone, of any age, can understand science at some level,\u201d the website states.<\/p>\n

The travel program visits schools throughout the state, even traveling to some schools outside Colorado throughout the year.<\/p>\n

The program\u2019s science projects are made to be investigated by preschoolers, but still gauge interest from those \u201cwith a more mature scientific mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

The projects are typically divided into two categories, some of which are made for well-lit venues and others are best seen in the dark.<\/p>\n

It costs about $2,000 for the program to visit one school.<\/p>\n

The event will include \u201cfood, fun and science\u201d for the whole family, and the program is suitable for all ages, according to the news release.<\/p>\n

Dinner will also be provided for attendees.<\/p>\n

The program\u2019s schedule is full for the 2023-24 school year, but there are still spaces available for the 2024-25 school year. Those with questions about scheduling can contact littleshopofphysics@gmail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n
