(Courtesy city of Durango)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The City will host the first public meeting for the preliminary engineering design of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.durangoco.gov\/1661\/Downtowns-Next-Step\" id=\"link-d7113e168924916db34b56de9eb1f634\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Downtown&#8217;s Next Step Phase 1<\/a> on March 14, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at the Fort Lewis College Center for Innovation in the Main Mall, 835 Main Ave, Suite 225 on the second floor.<\/p>\n<p>This meeting will provide background information on the project, preliminary design of the 600 and 700 blocks, and provide a safe and convenient space to discuss and provide feedback on the project design. Spanish interpretation and child care will be provided.<\/p>\n<p>According to the city <a href=\"https:\/\/www.durangoco.gov\/1661\/Downtowns-Next-Step\" id=\"link-0b4eade7f9ff6954f872fbe64141faa3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>, the conceptual design includes elements to make downtown more accessible and safe with curb extensions at the intersections, widened sidewalks, cycling improvements, festival blocks, additional landscaping, and accessible parking.<\/p>\n<p>For more information contact Klancy Nixon, Community Engagement Specialist, at <a href=\"mailto:klancy.nixon@durangogov.org\">klancy.nixon@durangogov.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>city of Durango is considering updating its logo.
