(Jerry McBride\/Durango Herald)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Firefighters responded to a car fire Wednesday at the Marathon gas station near the Toyota dealership across from Walmart in Durango.<\/p>\n<p>Police and firefighters staged a significant response given the fire occurred at a gas station.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video wp-block-embed-youtube naviga-video-embed\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ggv5LigJswA\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The fire was reported about 10:15 a.m. at 1220 Carbon Junction.<\/p>\n<p>The blaze started in the trunk of a four-door sedan. Still, Walsh said the fire does not appear to be suspicious. It may have started from faulty wiring, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Two occupants of the vehicle left the scene, according to police. (Jerry McBride\/Durango Herald)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>At least one of the owners of the vehicle was taken to Mercy Hospital with minor burns after he tried to access the trunk to extinguish the blaze, Walsh said.<\/p>\n<p>Police helped create a perimeter around the gas station to keep people at a distance in case the fire spread to the gas pumps.
