(Ben Bradley\/ Special to The Journal)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>MANCOS \u2013 Mancos made a clear statement that it would be one of the teams to beat for track and field coming out of the San Juan Basin League, winning six events at the Mancos Bluejay Invitational on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The girls won the team title, while the boys finished fourth. With the entire league field in attendance, the meet showcased a potentially wide-open league chase.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Akima Kane led the list of Bluejay victors, taking the shot put title by over 2 feet. Brooke Jabour dominated the 100 meters, while Aysia Mathews captured the triple jump, and the Bluejay girls 400-meter relay squad cruised to a victory.<\/p>\n<p>In boys action, Jonah Ritter won the 100- and 200-meter dashes.<\/p>\n<p>The Dolores girls placed third in the team results. Junior Coralea Wright won the 300 hurdles.<\/p>\n<p>The Dolores boys took fifth place in the team results. Sophomore Michael Rantz won both the boys long jump and the 400 meters for the Bears.<\/p>\n<p>For the Dove Creek boys team, Cody Alexander was the runner-up in both the 110 and 300 hurdles, pacing the Bulldogs to sixth place in the team results.<\/p>\n<p>The Dove Creek girls also placed sixth overall in team results.
