(Courtesy Aztec Municipal Schools)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>A senior prank Wednesday night disrupted classes at Aztec High School and forced the relocation of some students Thursday, according to an email from the Aztec Municipal School District.<\/p>\n<p>The district considered the disruption significant because the excessive use of streamers, balloons and glitter made classrooms inaccessible in the 100 and 200 buildings, said Jonathan Acrey, associate superintendent of human resources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdditionally, it was essential that we took steps to ensure that the campus was safe for students to stay on site,\u201d the email said.<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Acrey, associate superintendent of human resources, said Thursday morning that the district was investigating the situation and could not provide details about who was involved in the prank.<\/p>\n<p>Acrey confirmed the prank occurred Wednesday, May 8.<\/p>\n<p>The prank disrupted year-end testing, but the district Thursday did not plan disciplinary action, Acrey said.<\/p>\n<p>Administrators spoke to senior students and discussed the steps going forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe notified senior students that the actions they take today are important,\u201d the email said. \u201cThese actions will show their true character and will help us determine next steps regarding end of school year activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Students were not required to participate in the cleanup, the email said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThankfully, a majority of the senior class chose to participate, and cleaning is progressing quickly,\u201d the email said.<\/p>\n<p>The email concluded by asking parents to speak with students about the actions they take and the lasting impacts they can have.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTogether we can turn this prank into a learning experience for our students,\u201d the email said.<\/p>\n<p>Aztec High School graduation is set for May 20.
