On Sunday, May 19 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., youth baseball and softball players from Southwest Colorado have the opportunity to show off their skills for a chance to compete at the World Series at the Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run event at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave. in Durango.<\/p>\n

Athletes will have the chance to practice and highlight their baseball and softball skills, but will also compete to attend and compete at the 2024 Major League Baseball World Series July 21-27 in St. Charles, Missouri.<\/p>\n

Attendees with a last name starting with A-K will participate from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and last names starting with the letters L-Z will have their turn from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.<\/p>\n

Participants will compete in the age divisions of 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 or 13-14.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey will be tested, and their measurements will be recorded for points,\u201d the event\u2019s website said. \u201cBased on their scores, they will advance from a local event to a team championship and then to the finals hosted at the World Series.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event is free to register and is being hosted by the Bank of Colorado, which sponsors the Colorado Rockies.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Colorado Rockies mascot Dinger will be present from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
