{"id":27354,"date":"2024-06-03T16:31:15","date_gmt":"2024-06-03T22:31:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/man-reportedly-threatens-neighbor-with-pitchfork-san-juan-sheriffs-office-says\/"},"modified":"2026-05-10T12:38:03","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T18:38:03","slug":"man-reportedly-threatens-neighbor-with-pitchfork-san-juan-sheriffs-office-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/man-reportedly-threatens-neighbor-with-pitchfork-san-juan-sheriffs-office-says\/","title":{"rendered":"Man reportedly threatens neighbor with pitchfork, San Juan Sheriff\u2019s Office says"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=37749075-575f-5c91-9b5f-24f0fae0e380&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" srcset=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=37749075-575f-5c91-9b5f-24f0fae0e380&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=800 800w, https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=37749075-575f-5c91-9b5f-24f0fae0e380&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=1200 1200w, https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=37749075-575f-5c91-9b5f-24f0fae0e380&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=1800 1800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 2000px\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" alt=\"Jordan Nunez-McClanahan\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">Jordan Nunez-McClanahan<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p><em id=\"emphasis-f2c6058212fffd16baf90debf64d78d1\">Editor\u2019s Note: Nunez-McClanahan was clear of all charges in this case, as it was dismissed by the San Juan County District Attorney\u2019s Office on Sept. 27, 2024.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A San Juan County man was taken into custody when he showed up for arraignment on aggravated assault charges.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy District Attorney Michael Sanchez informed the court that Jordan Nunez-McClanahan, 38, had picked up an additional charge of harassment and had an outstanding warrant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe state moves for the conditions of release to be revoked having committed a new criminal offense,\u201d Sanchez said to District Judge Daylene Marsh, who ordered Nunez-McClanahan to check in with the bailiff and not leave the courtroom.<\/p>\n<p>Nunez-McClanahan\u2019s charges involved altercations he had with his neighbor, according to court records.<\/p>\n<p>The first charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon was connected to a May 3 incident at 1:36 p.m. on County Road 4018 in Middle Mesa, in Nunez-McClanahan was reportedly chasing another man \u201cwith a pitchfork,\u201d according to the statement of probable cause.<\/p>\n<p>Nunez-McClanahan and he and neighbor James Morrow reportedly were \u201chaving issues with each other regarding Morrow reportedly receiving an \u201ceviction\u201d notice from Nunez-McClanahan, court records state.<\/p>\n<p>Morrow told San Juan County Sheriff\u2019s Office investigators that he was outside working, when Nunez-McClanahan reportedly approached him \u201cscreaming at him\u201d and carrying \u201ca pitchfork, shovel and chain saw,\u201d according to the statement of probable cause.<\/p>\n<p>Morrow stated that he asked Nunez-McClanahan \u201cif he had a gun,\u201d and the man stated that he did. He also reportedly told Morrow \u201cI got a pitchfork; I\u2019m gonna kill you,\u201d according to the probable cause statement.<\/p>\n<p>Two witnesses reported hearing Nunez-McClanahan say he was going \u201cto kill\u201d Morrow, and one witness stated she saw Nunez-McClanahan holding the pitchfork and \u201cwalked aggressively toward\u201d Morrow, who told authorities he \u201cbecame fearful for his safety and felt threatened\u201d by both Nunez-McClanahan\u2019s \u201cwords and actions,\u201d according to the probable cause statement.<\/p>\n<p>Nunez-McClanahan was arrested and transported to the San Juan County Detention Center.<\/p>\n<p>Nunez-McClanahan was released from the detention center on May 6, and Magistrate Stacey Biel signed a no-contact order, telling the man to not contact the alleged victim in any way and to not harass Morrow.<\/p>\n<p>Then, on May 26, Morrow contacted the Sheriff\u2019s Office to report that Nunez-McClanahan \u201chad been terrorizing him\u201d and \u201che was in fear for his life,\u201d according to an affidavit for arrest warrant dated May 29.<\/p>\n<p>Morrow provided video evidence of Nunez-McClanahan, reportedly blocking the exit to his property by parking at the end of Morrow\u2019s driveway. Then, the truck \u201cslowly pulls away and continues down the roadway,\u201d the affidavit states.<\/p>\n<p>On May 27, sheriff\u2019s investigators were called to the property again. This time, Morrow and several witnesses reported seeing Nunez-McClanahan drive by the property \u201cslowly and was yelling at him to \u2018get out of here,\u2019\u201d the affidavit states.<\/p>\n<p>Nunez-McClanahan was charged with harassment and the arrest warrant was issued on May 29. The warrant was served June 3, when Nunez-McClanahan showed up for court on the previous charge of aggravated assault.
