(City of Cortez\/Courtesy Photo)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>On July 1, the second round of the 81321 Launch Grant applications are due.<\/p>\n<p>These grants, which are sponsored by the city of Cortez Public Arts Advisory Board and the LOR Foundation are open to community members, individuals, nonprofit and for-profit businesses that have a project that will benefit the community as a whole, according to a news release from Kelly Codner, city public information officer .<\/p>\n<p>Funding ranges up to the maximum amount of $4,000 for creative projects.<\/p>\n<p>According to the news release, applicants are asked to consider the following questions about their project:<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-x-im-unordered-list\">Does the project make Cortez an amazing place to call home?<\/div>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-x-im-unordered-list\">Does the money produce something tangible that can be seen, felt or experienced?<\/div>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-x-im-unordered-list\">Does the project engage the broader community?<\/div>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-x-im-unordered-list\">Does the project bring something new, innovative and unique to Cortez?<\/div>\n<p>The funds are to be used to purchase supplies and materials for the project or to contract with a local artist to complete the project.<\/p>\n<p>There is no age limit.<\/p>\n<p>The LOR Foundation is handling the final grant decisions and funding allocations, while the CPAAC is advertising and acting as an advisory grant review committee.<\/p>\n<p>The first round of funding closed April 1. The third round will close Oct. 1.<\/p>\n<p>In the first round of funding, two projects were awarded.
