The crash shut down the highway for about an hour.<\/p>\n<p>Two motorcycles were involved, colliding side by side in a merge lane at mile post 57.2, approximately a mile east of Mancos, according to Capt. Nathan Lyons with Colorado State Patrol. Both riders, who were traveling together, were ejected from their motorcycles.<\/p>\n<p>One rider was from Ignacio, and the other from Durango. Both were transported to Mercy Hospital in Durango via ambulance, Lyons told a <em id=\"emphasis-67128e9d1fdab59b08bc25d335a60dd1\">Journal<\/em> reporter. Lyons did not identify either rider.<\/p>\n<p>Colorado State Patrol released a traffic crash report to <em id=\"emphasis-d711cad68916ae5edc4615f07aa9e1da\">The Journal <\/em>on July 15, written by Trooper Steven King. The Ignacio rider was identified as Joseph Wancura, 67. The rider from Durango was identified as Joshua Coombs, 50.<\/p>\n<p>Wancura\u2019s motorcycle skidded through the eastbound lane before going off the road, where the motorcycle tripped, ejecting the rider. The motorcycle turned one and three-quarters times while airborne.<\/p>\n<p>Coombs\u2019 motorcycle traveled across the westbound lane, ejecting the rider, who landed near the centerline.
