(Courtesy of Durango Police Department Facebook page)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>A Sunday afternoon rainstorm brought roughly up to 0.8 inches of rain, causing a mudslide in the 4500 block of Main Avenue between Mild to Wild and Red Cliff Apartments.<\/p>\n<p>The slide reduced traffic to one lane, according to a post on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DurangoPolice\/\" id=\"link-85ae0cb47af444adb8f4dfc2fa1d2684\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Durango Police Department\u2019s Facebook page<\/a>. Clean up crews were on site removing debris as of 3:15 p.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>After a relatively light monsoon in July, Durango and the Animas Valley were hit hard by the rainstorm.<\/p>\n<p>Areas near Purgatory Resort received slightly less rain with 0.6 inches, while Cortez experienced minimal precipitation. However, the National Weather Service reported hale about a half-inch in diameter in Towaoc.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve just been having this moisture that\u2019s been trapped across southwest Colorado for quite a while, with the moisture not really moving out of the area,\u201d said NWS meteorologist Megan Sanders on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=7f451b59-b7a1-52f8-9c42-7287af2b6399&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1049\" alt=\"Vehicles drive through standing water on northbound Camino del Rio near 14th Street in Downtown Durango on Sunday. Moisture is likely to hang around in Southwest Colorado and the San Juan Mountains through Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>She said that while July has been drier than usual, storms in late June have kept Southwest Colorado on par for a normal rainfall year.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, moisture appears to be picking up in Southwest Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt looks like we might get another push of monsoon moisture late next week,\u201d Sanders said.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been a promising summer for the region in regards to drought status.
