She was last seen at 1 p.m. that day, driving away from her Farmington-based business Holcomb Oil and Gas Co. Her car was later found at the family home in Bloomfield, but she was not home.<\/p>\n<p>The body was discovered \u201cnear  the 77 mile marker on Highway 64,\u201d San Juan County Sheriff\u2019s Captain Kevin Burns said. \u201cShe was wearing the same clothes that she was reported last seen in,\u201d which were reported to be \u201cbrown corduroy pants and a brown turtle neck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The remains were sent to the Office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque, and Burns said, \u201cthrough normal processes, through dental records, the body was identified positively as Sharron Holcomb.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Burns added the Sheriff\u2019s Office has \u201cnot received the report back on the findings,\u201d which would include a possible cause of death in the case.<\/p>\n<p>Holcomb\u2019s husband, William \u201cJeff\u201d Holcomb, reported her missing in 2014 and reportedly told sheriff\u2019s investigators that Sharron \u201cwalked from the home voluntarily in a distressed mental state,\u201d according to \u201cwhat we were advised at the time,\u201d Burns said.<\/p>\n<p>A year after Holcomb disappeared, Vectra Bank sued Holcomb Oil and Gas Co. for an unpaid loan of $712,233.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit filed on Nov. 25, 2015, named Sharron Holcomb, and William \u201cJeff\u201d Holcomb, and Holcomb Oil and Gas Co. as defendants.<\/p>\n<p>The 11th Judicial District Court ruled in favor of Vectra Bank on Sept. 27, 2017, and ordered the Holcombs to pay the loan and the bank\u2019s attorney fees and court costs, court records state.<\/p>\n<p>The next day, Sept. 28, 2017, William \u201cJeff\u201d Holcomb filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in United States Bankruptcy Court, District of New Mexico, according to court records.<\/p>\n<p>Then, on May 31, 2022, William \u201cJeff\u201d Holcomb filed an application for informal probate of Sharron Holcomb\u2019s will, stating in court documents that she died Nov. 18, 2019, at the age of 69, according to court records.<\/p>\n<p>He asked to be appointed \u201cthe personal representative of the estate,\u201d which he was granted on June 29, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Now that Sharron Holcomb has been found, Burns said the missing person part of the case has been closed \u201cbut the investigation will be ongoing until we determine the cause and matter of death.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>San Juan County Sheriff\u2019s Office investigates<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":26462,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[28],"naviga_topic":[],"class_list":["post-26461","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-headlines"],"acf":[],"author_name":"dh_admin","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/26461","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=26461"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/26461\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":79365,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/26461\/revisions\/79365"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/26462"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=26461"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=26461"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=26461"},{"taxonomy":"naviga_topic","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/naviga_topic?post=26461"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
