The Bloomfield woman reportedly involved in a double homicide on Aug. 28 now faces a felony charge in connection to the crimes.<\/p>\n

Ravyn Burns, 18, has been charged with third-degree felony tampering with evidence and misdemeanor resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.<\/p>\n

The charges were brought by the San Juan County Sheriff\u2019s Office in connection to her alleged involvement in the killings of Stoney Torres, 25, and Jessica Aragon, 28.<\/p>\n

Multiple witnesses placed Burns at the home on County Road 4909 the day of the shooting. Witnesses also stated that she was there with Isaiah Barella Brown, 21, the alleged shooter, and fled with him, according to an affidavit for arrest warrant.<\/p>\n

It is alleged Burns\u2019 mother Lucinda Burns conspired with an inmate at the San Juan County Detention Center to secure a ride for Brown and Burns from Kirsten Levato, who reportedly took them to 9 County Road 6693, where they were reportedly \u201csleeping in the living room,\u201d according to \u201crecorded phone calls from the detention center,\u201d the affidavit states.<\/p>\n

When authorities learned Brown and Burns were there, they obtained a search warrant and arrest warrant for Brown, charging him with two counts of second-degree murder and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n

Levato was the first arrested as she left the home before law enforcement officers executed the search warrant at the home at 4:41 p.m. Aug. 29.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrown reportedly fired rounds out the window at officers,\u201d and it is believed he \u201cstarted a fire inside,\u201d the affidavit states.<\/p>\n

Brown and Burns reportedly \u201cfled the scene on foot west bound to avoid apprehension,\u201d and \u201can officer-involved shooting occurred,\u201d before both were arrested, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n

Brown, who was shot, was taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center and was flown to another hospital for treatment of his injuries.<\/p>\n

Burns was arrested and questioned by detectives. During questioning, Burns reportedly admitted that she and \u201cBrown changed clothes,\u201d after the homicides, and he reportedly put the clothes in a Dollar General bag, and \u201cshe was unsure of where Brown placed this bag or where the clothes were currently at,\u201d the affidavit states.<\/p>\n

The charge of tampering with evidence alleges that Burns disposed of her clothing and the vehicle with Brown after the homicide, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n

The clothing could be considered \u201cimperative to the investigation indicating her involvement and could possess any evidence on this clothing,\u201d the affidavit states.<\/p>\n

She allegedly resisted officers by running from them as they attempted to execute an arrest warrant on County Road 6693, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n

San Juan County Sheriff\u2019s detectives also stated in the warrant that they brought the charges against Burns, after Farmington Police detectives \u201cadvised they would not be pursing charges related to Burns\u2019 involvement\u201d in the officer-involved shooting, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n

Brown has not been arrested as of Tuesday morning, and no charges have been brought against Levato or Burns\u2019 mother.<\/p>\n

Burns has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Sept. 12 in Aztec Magistrate Court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
